All right, this is for all of you trigger - vote happy Guns n Roses fans.  There is some sort of an online poll going on... and weighing in at... well, you all know that story by now.

Show support for Gn'R by voting for them here ::

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/espn25/story?page=bracket/round1/jackson_guns

Your vote shows that you agree that Gn'R has the larger pop culture symbol.  Oh yeah!!!

Michael Jackson is their first component.

Updated to say that Michael Jackson has the lead with 60% over Gn'Rs 40%.

I dunno. I remember the 80's pretty well. MJ was a BIG icon during that time period, and in my opinion, much bigger than GNR. GNR was big in their own right, but MJ was HUGE back then. It's tough to believe now, but then, all kinds of people dressed like him, danced like him, you name it. He was everywhere, and he was able to to appeal to many more types of people than GnR was.

Go ahead and flame, but I remember that time and MJ was more popular than any artist right now is during this time.

i would say that the mark MJ left on the world has faded...
who wears red pleather jackets or even listens to MJ's music anymore?  whereas GN'Rs music lives on.... and hey, bandanas are still cool!  shiny socks and highwater pants aren't!

(all in good fun)  Grin

seriously though, i never hear MJs music anywhere anymore  Huh
but i still hear GN'R  ok

and is there such a thing as classic pop?

whereas GN'R is classic. period.

First of all I'm talking about that era, not now. That is what it is about right?

Any MJ music is played often on the radio, and very well respected, any entertainer will say that.

See MJ travel anywhere and look at how he gets mobbed. Axl can go out and not get mobbed like that.

Yea, shiny socks and shoes aren't cool...I guess spandex and combat boots still are. Roll Eyes

I love GnR, more than MJ, but in that era, MJ was much more of a cultural phenomenon.

But agagin, it's my two cents. I think you are a huge gnr fan so of course you are going to say that they were bigger, badder, and longer lasting.

Sorry but MJ will always be the biggest superstar in the world. He is mobbed everywhere he goes. He has the hugiest fanbase in the world. I would know as I am a huge fan of his who has followed him all over the world.

MJ's music is played everywhere.

His impact on pop culture is unmatched.

And dont get me started on the lil boys thing  Roll Eyes

mj had better comercial sucess than gunsnroses, but he didn't phenomenon. He had a good comercial music, and made a great sucess with that.
But gnr was phenomen, because their music didn't comercial, and their music were more underground than mainstreem but they were the biggest band in 80's.

i just voted for michael jackson.

i'm sorry but back in that era michael jackson was the greatest, undisputed king of pop. he's an icon.

guns n roses are a rock n roll band, i know plenty of people that hate guns n roses music.

but i'm yet to find somebody that doesn't like a michael jackson song.

i agree with the key master hihi

i love guns n roses, but they're just a rock n roll band, on the same level as ac/dc and led zep aerosmith etc.

michael jackson is something else.

cya later
