I always wondered who's the one lying Slash or Matt.

Slash has always said the he left GNR( quit ).

Matt has always said that Slash was fired.

This used to be funny....

I don't think anybody is lying,  it's just their way of perception... Maybe Axl said to slash that he wanted him to play a couple of songs that slash didn't wanna play because of the song style and that slash then left because he didn't agree....

Can somebody post the quotes where Matt says Slash was fired?

Matt said that he was fired, not Slash.

Slash quit.  Slash could not have been fired, because he was an equal partner in the band, so it would've taken the majority's vote, just like it did with Steven.

Matt wasn't an equal partner, so Axl could fire him without the other guys' consent.

Or maybe Rolling Stone? Roll Eyes

"We got off the road and we spent, like, three years fucking around," Sorum says. "I think Axl just got afraid." Rose got ownership of the band's name, and in 1996 he fired Slash, announcing the move with a bizarre fax to MTV (it began, "Due to overwhelming enthusiasm and that 'dive in and find the monkey' attitude . . . ").

Matt didn't fire anybody.

Polly "Axl's Paroit" huge fired Slash, Matt and Duff.

And Booker that's a statement from the rolling stone, not MAtt.

your kidding right? Paul didn't fire anyone. Slash left the band in 96, Duff left in 98, and Matt was fired (by Axl) around 98 as well. But Matt went into it with the intention of getting fired. If you don't know the facts than dont post.

Yes, that was Rolling Stone's quote, not Sorum's.  And they are inaccurate, as are numerous other things they wrote in that same article.

Of course Slash was fired.  The last thing he wanted to do was leave Guns n Roses.  Don't believe his lies.

Of course Slash was fired.

Read the thread Drunk, Slash could not have been fired, because Axl did not have the legal right to fire him.  Until Slash quit GNR, he, Axl, and Duff had legal partnership in Guns N Roses.  In a legal partnership, only a majority vote can fire another member.  This was the case with Steven, they had a majority vote.  Slash only could've been fired by Axl and Duff collectively, and obviously Duff didn't consent to firing Slash, so Axl could not have by himself.

Furthermore, Axl himself stated that Matt was the only one fired, the others left by choice.

The point was that neither Matt nor Slash was lying; rather, Rolling Stone didn't have their facts straight.

All that allows is for Slash to legally say "I left the band", but the truth is, his ass was fired.  "Get out, I don't want you here, goodbye."  If Axl says that, then that means he was kicked out of the band which is the same as fired.

Didn't you read the first time?  Axl could not legally say "get out of the band".  Nor did he.  If Axl had said that, Slash could've just said "Fuck you, I'm not going anywhere."

Slash quit the band, plain and simple.

There's not one ounce of accuracy in your statements.  These are all your Slash-hating delusions.  Not even Axl backs up what you've just said.

It was their [Slash's and Duff's] choice to leave.  Matt was fired, but he came in trying to get fired and told many people so that night.  So you might say everyone who left, left by choice.
