No real message needed here to start this. I have just been curious about this. You think Axl is proud of them at all (you know like a small part of him, deep deeeeeeeeeeeeeep down), or does he find them laughable? Or maybe something else. Im curious.

Axl doesn't seem to care for anyone - not his fans and deffinetly not people who abandoned hima decade ago

He might not even know about them - he didn't know about the European tour in 2001 after all Roll Eyes

Hm, probably feels a little threatened, i think he's just waiting to see how they do, testing the water so to speak.

If he does, he shouldn't.  Axl has more things to worry about than Velvet Revolver.  Even proving everybody wrong shouldn't be on Axl's list of priorities.  Finishing and releasing this record he's been telling people about for the last several years should be of paramount importance to him.

I think Axl has nothing to worry about at all. Dont get me wrong I liked VR - Contraband I liked it a lot but when I think of songs like Maddy and The Blues etc I prefer them to Contraband so cos Axl has taken his time till its perfect but I am just itching to hear it

You know, I really didnt mean this so much as a competition thing for him (though that has to be figured into it), so much as I did in terms of them being his old compadres and how things are turning out for them.

I don't think he hates them or anything, but I doubt he cares.

I think he will say, when asked, that he knows nothing about it, and has no interest in it.

I think, in reality, he keeps abreast of what's going on, and has followed VR from the begining.  I'm sure there are mutual friends, as well, passing info to BOTH sides about the others goings on.

I don't think it will, in the slightest, effect CD.  I don't think Axl "cares" in that way...in a competition sense.  I think it's more like Buddah suggests, sort of....just keeping tabs on his former bandmates.

i reckon he got a total boost of confadence when he hears it hihi
CHI DEM is gonna have so much more detail n' shit, thats why i beleive Contraband was rushed way to fast, Axl will proove that it was all worth the wait!!!!!!

Who knows...

Axl could be freaking out with envy and rerecording CD or not heard one single note and have no plans to do so.

That's what makes Axl, well...

Axl.

I dont think he cares about it at all... he prob hasnt and wont listen to the cd...

He knows about it coz its in the music news... and Axl keeps up with whats new in music..... he has too, its his job and very exsistince..

To us were just fans, part time muscisians, and music lovers.. Axl Has to stay current or he gets left behind.. So im sure he KNOWS about the album and the success its having but im sure he doesnt care and is just thinking, "my band will get there soon too"

« Reply #11 on: June 15, 2004, 12:52:59 AM »

The only thing he would care about was if he read any VR articles, and the parts where it take shots at him like:

"VR is basically Guns N' Roses without having a pain in the ass of a singer"

"Contraband is done, and axl rose is still holed up somewhere"

That's all he'd really care about IMO

'Absolutely'

« Reply #13 on: June 15, 2004, 03:33:51 AM »

I think axl would be glad to hear VR because it just reinforces what he's known all along... slash and duff N matt do what they do... and don't get me wrong VR is cool... but they fail to see a vision for something beyond tried and true Rock N Roll.... nothing wrong with it... its just axl wanted to go somewhere where they were incapable of going...

VR just confirms what axl has felt inside all along

I don't know if Axl gives 2 shits about VR--he seems to be rather self absorbed so unless something is happening in his little kingdom, I doubt that he notices...hopefully all the "therapy" of that 2002 tour (playing that real old shit)has allowed him to acknowledge, embrace and release all that old, old baggage and his energy isn't being eaten up by the past...let's hope ok

He may be threatened by them. VR is poised to take #1 on the Billboard 200. Or perhaps he is mature enough to realize it shouldn't be a competition. Who knows.

I think he cares, in some sort of way, but I dont think it will effect Chinese Democracy. Also Contraband is a good cd, but like Axl said "Go Buy those guys' solo records, (Or in this case Contraband) there are neat ideas and parts there, but they wouldn't have worked for a Guns N' Roses record."

I have heard Axl saw tapes from the El Rey show last June, and that he supposedly likes it. It was either El Rey tape, or demos VR made before the album.

I think it's safe to say Axl will not comment on Velvet Revolver.
