Yesterday afternoon I was listening to the tailend of the Paul Marshall show (3-7) on my way home from work. He and the DJ that was taking over at 7 were talking about the GnR Studio (Demo?) track he had played.....they also commented on the clip of Maddy he played from the VMA's. Of course they did nothing but bash it and use it for a lead in for a VR song, but a freind of mine said he heard it and they did play two songs he said the first didn't sound live but instantly recognized the 2nd as being Maddy from the VMA's........I guess the station claimed to have listeners calling in to ask them to stop plying it because it sounded awful..........

I was wondering if any of the posters from the Boston area heard this and can figure out what the first song was....I tend to think it was 1 of 3 things

1. a live track from the tour......based on the rection, probably Silk Worms
2. an older post Illusions demo which tended to be very poor quality (maybe even a ROSE track)
3. One of those piece of shit songs that is on Kaaza that gets pawned off as GnR like that Pillow song

I'd love to know if anyone heard it.......I tried to call but by the time I got thru the other DJ was on and told me to call Paul today

I forgot to add that I have an Email out to this DJ, If i get a reply I'll cut and paste it here

Edit: This is also from the same DJ posted on the WAAF website:

There's apparently been some confusion.

Last week, several websites reported that G n'R keyboardist Dizzy Reed would be on the show Friday the 4th. Fact is...No interview was ever set up. I received an e-mail asking if I was interested in having him on. His band Hookers n' Blow were scheduled to play in town that weekend. Before we could ever set anything up, Blabbermouth reported it as fact, and it just was not the case. I'm bummed that so many people expected it to happen and it didn't. Unless you see it here, or I say it on the air, it doesn't happen. Sorry to disappoint. Maybe sometime in the future we'll get an opportunity to find out what's up with G n'R. I'm just as interested as you are...

I'm in the Boston area, but I very rarely listen to WAAF (too much nu metal), so I really have no idea what this is about.

WOW! that's crazy? and what is a board recording?

What kind of listeners are on WAAF? Like punk and alternative fans. Or like rock and roll fans. that could explain the bad listener response.

i assume board recording is short for soundboard recording, meaning its probably one of the higher-end bootlegs from the past tour.

I'm not too familiar with WAAF, but I think its one of those generic rock stations, kinda like krock, except its in boston.

thanks for the info (board recording)

Besides, what kind of station stops a song in the middle?  I've never heard of anything like that before. Could it have been stopped because the quality of the track was super shitty? Weird!!!

I think its bullshit!!! Why now, all of a sudden, would they play one of New GN'R's songs. If anything they would have played it while they were on tour in 2002. I don't think any radio station would stop a song in the midde for any reason, unless it started skipping. I guess we have another Eddie Trunk on our hands.

So they bashed both songs?  I though they only bashed madagascar from the Vma's?

How fast would a guy have to be to listen to a song, judge that he doesn't like it, then start hating it so much that he just has to call the station instead of changing the channel, dial the number, get on phone with the people in charge, and then get the guy to stop playing the song he had specifically chosen... That's quick.

Totally agree. The whole story is unreal.

sounds like WAAF is on the VR payroll! haha..

seriously though that's stupid, since they could get in alot of trouble for playing it, I highly doubt they would, and I doubt even more they would get  such a listener response in the chorus of 5 minutes...

I definately happened.....I have now heard from a few people who heard it. It turns out they asked a few times before playing it for people to call with there opinion......they were bashing his voice before the song ever hit the air.......and to answer hey_axl they bashed both songs not just Madagascar. They then played "Falling to Pieces".....after that song they made a comment about how the best thing to come out of VR is the chance to not have to listen to Axl........then they said if this is what Axl's been working on all these years that he should never release the new album

edit: it is also not uncommon for WAAF to stop playing a song.....they do a fundraiser evry year where people call in and pat for a song (regardless of format). I could pay $25 to hear Sweet Caroline, and if you want it to stop you have to pay atleats $26......they do shit like that at WAAF all of the time.

No they dont...I have never heard of this and I live in that area. This is total bullshit. These songs have been around since 2002 and people from the station went to the show in Boston in 2002 and said it was awesome. They were only mad cause he came on close to 11. They could have played these songs a long time ago and they never did. Plus, who the fuck would pay 25 fucking dollars to play one god damn song, and then play 26 extra fucking bucks to take it off. Give me a fuckin break. This is total fuckin bullshit. It pisses me off.
