Roger Waters new record got push back til 2005. Websites for his fan club have been talking about it for a  couple of years.

Brian Wilson's "Smile" instantly comes to mind.

I also recall projects by NIN, Beastie Boys, George Michael and Prince have taken several years (as in more than 5) to see the light of day as well.

Can't rush a masterpiece Smiley  We'll see... Smiley

Yea George Michael hadn't released an original album since 1997. His new one now is his best one ever IMHO. Well worth the wait. He didn't communicate too much with the fans either.

Freddy vs. Jason was first slated for filming in 87'. Friday 13th part 7 - the new blood was origenaly gonna be Fvs.J...n' that was 17 fucking years ago.
Heaps of directors n' scripts n' all that shit.

Chinese Democracy and Freddy vs. Jason were the two things i have been waiting for since roughly 97', n' when i finally saw it at the movies i was expecting CHI DEM that year too confused

i know most of it spent on touring but Metallica's Load took a near 5 years n' it was gonna take even longer so they cut the album in half n' obviously we got Re-Load later.

Hannibal, Thomas Harris' follow up to his novel, The Silence of the Lambs, took eleven years to come out. Apparently he's contracted for another two books, but no word on when we'll ever hear from Hannibal "The Cannibal" again (unless you count the Red Dragon prequel movie in the works...which supposedly is being done independently of Thomas Harris).

Red Dragon?  That shit's been out for a couple years.

you keep listing stuff that wasn't started. For an album, CD is the longest, no onther album has had so much work done. Wasn't duff, matt and slash working on new stuff before they left? Ill bet axl had songs then that he has reworked with the new band.

No slash said the song ideas he had for after TSI were not liked by Axl and he used them for his first snakepit album.

Duff's ideas that axl didnt like He used on his 1993 release Believe in Me.

In that case, thank God they're out of the band! And Velvet Revolver is just more proof that Axl was the most important part of GN'R.
