Axls voice?

Ok dont bitch too much at me if you guys already discussed this coz i cant find any info on it..her goes...
i heard rir for the first time the other night on dvd and it seems to me that axls voice falls apart after the first 3 or 4 songs, really reall really bad on november rain. I was wondering can someone tell me is that the way he sounds all the time now or did he have an infection or something. i noticed constantly he was twiddling with something on his pants that obviously controlled his mic.
Any ideas? Cheers.
Peace

I agree, he was weak on a lot songs at that show. But he was really good on the Blues and Madagascar. Which are 2 songs that are designed for his new voice.
I just think that most of those songs are for another singer. Axl is a completely new singer now. He has had some surgery on his throat. I am not sure how much that has affected his voice.

on the Illusion tour his throat was fucked from years of touring IMO, he hadnt played in 8 years after that. After RIR3 and the CHI DEM tour (if it was finished) i think he's voice was gettin' seriously warmed up, but we'll know when the next tour happens.

If u want to read some *really* long discussions on this, serach my post history. I've written loads and you can also get to the original threads through them to see what others have said. It's a big long complicated discussion with no easy answers and i cant be arsed to write stuff out again.

It wasn't the best at RIR 3..
BUT LISTEN to Live & let die at Albany 11.27-02!!
He sings SO GREAT under the whole show, and specially that song!
(How can he scream so long
)
I think its alot better than on the late UYI tour
Anybody agree with that...

Yeah whats with axl's voice when GN'R played live?
In my opinion it made the performances a little dissapointing.
On the studio versions is voice is perfect but live it's all gone and he can't hit the high notes for long and it wears out quickly
Anyone know why?
I've heard that the smoking and drinking before the shows often contributed, but all rock n roll singers almost all drank and smoked and partied like Axl and in performances their voice was well fine axl's hardly ever was.

He'll sound just fine on the new album. He'll be able to spend days, weeks trying to get it to sound absolutely perfect for any note he wants to hit. That is the beauty of the studio. Live, he was pretty good in Cleveland, obviously isn't what he was at 25, but who really expects him to be. As long as the studio version of his voice is good that is really all people will care about as the only people who will pay to see him live will love him regardless of whether he sings with the rasp he had in 1988 or not.

I don't know 86-89 at least, Axl's voice killed live, it was so powerful. It was definitely different at Rio III and on the tour, sometimes sounding downright awful, very weak. But he still sounds good on Blues, and Madagascar.
It could be many things, psychological, drugs, years of non-use, or the surgery and problems he had from before. I noticed once Rod Stewart had surgery on his throat, he never sounded the same, or maybe it just takes years to heal, who knows? I just hope it's not permanent damage.

I'm sorry to say this but were are all morons if we think an artist sounds the same on stage as they do on their recordings. I'll admit Axl dosen't hit every song at every show but neither do other bands, noticed I said bands? We can thank the lord that he
does
sing on stage and dosen't use recorded versions of himself a la Britney Spears. Britney uhhhhhhhhh theres a prime example of someone who can't sing what they recorded on stage.

Axl voice is different of the old songs but his new voice and new songs are made for eachother just great Axl still can pull it off his voice does sound weaker though on old songs but on the album if we see it you'll get one really high voice and one low voice well thats what we are expecting.

I think Axl is really inconsistent as far as live singing goes. Some perfromances, he is fantastic....while others are not very good at all. When he sang We Will Rock You for the Freddie Mercury Tribute, i thought he was really bad....when he did Bohemian Rhapsody, he sounded great.

I perfer Axl's voice as of 2002 more than 1992....Don't ask me why I just do.....If you watch/listen to Tokyo 1992 he sounds like shit the whole show...IMO.....He sounds way better now.He can hit higher notes and scream longer(LALD)

He does sound pretty bad on most of Tokyo 92. But when he sings "Sail Away Sweet Sister" he shows that he still had a good voice when he wasn't screaming.

No question he sings in a 'higher', 'crisper' voice than the old days, but if you listen to the 2002 tour in order, you can definetly hear improvement show to show...either way, it's better than the last days of the UYI tour (from what I've heard).
2002 LALD rocks!
