I wish they would mix up the setlist as well. Especially since they have a whole aqlbum of songs to choose from. They should also drop IUTLH and replace it with Rocket Queen. I would love to see Scott perform that 1.
I also wish Scott would stop saying the same stuff on tour. Its like everything is planned and ok "x" song ends now I will say rock music, I really mean rock n roll music bala bla bla,,,,talk aout other stuff too...juts a lil compliant thats alll...

It was a bit weird hearing Scott sing instead of Axl on the bootlegs.
When people say that VR has three ex-Gunners and they should play the songs because of that, you might wanna think about the fact that "only" two of them actually were in the band when the songs were written.
Matt didn't play on AFD or Lies.
They're not covering Loaded or Snakepit and they have two ex-members of each band.
I guess they like playing the songs and people want to hear them at VR shows, so it's ok. I don't care.

i can't believe this stupid argument is being discussed AGAIN!
the name of the band is irrelevant!! if VR starting calling themselves STP, it wouldn't change a thing. it would still be the same 5 people performing.
but based on your logic, if they DID change their name to STP, they would all of a sudden have some "right" to play STP songs.
so ridiculous!!!

I think they picked a happy medium playing none might piss off fans and make people give bad reviews of the concerts. Playing 3 of the lesses known songs, embraces their past, makes the GnR fans happy, and breaks up a completelly NEW VR set.
I agree. This way, they can play their new songs and throw in a cover every three songs or so to keep the fans into it, because they know their new songs aren't going to be over with the fans yet. And I like the fact that they only play the lesser known GNR tracks rather than play the classics.
Every new band will play covers (even if they don't have ex-members in their group) for this very reason. Axl's new band definitely comes to mind.

i agree 100%. if they didn't play at least one gnr song, i would have been VERY disappointed.

Please point out the part where I discussed the band's name. Thank you.
VR has:
Two ex-GN'R members who were in the band when the songs were written.
Two Loaded members.
Two Snakepit members.
They perform GN'R songs but no Loaded or Snakepit songs even thought they have an equal amount of members from those bands. This concludes this episode of "Fun with maths".
If they covered a Loaded song like Seattle Head, it might actually work really well for this band...

Ahem, pardon me for correcting you Jarmo, but "Seattle Head" was not an original Loaded song. It was first recorded by Duff for his solo album
Beautiful Disease
. So that song is really only by one member of VR.
Ah, more fun with math!

I think it first appeared on a Neurotic Outsiders single (which featured both Duff and Matt).

They are playing to the fans. Its about 50% GNR fans, 25% STP fans and 25% Velvet Revolver fans. Alot of people going to these shows have a limited knowledge about VR and are there because of STP or GNR. So Velvet Revolver plays to what the fans want to hear. I'm tired of the Audioslave arguement, this band isn't Audioslave.
on a side note if they busted out "Good News" by NO I'd be one happy motherfucker

you didn't specifically mention band's names. BUT, based on (several) other convos on these boards, i know you think it's ok for axl to play gnr songs because he has the gnr name.
and the fact that you think it's "wierd" for this band to play gnr songs, is in my opinion, biased and hypocritical. and makes no sense whatsoever.

If you wanna bring Axl in this too, yes I think it's ok for him to play GN'R songs since his band uses the name GN'R and people going to the shows probably expect to hear GN'R songs.
You expect to hear Creed covers when you go see a band called GN'R?

Maybe I'm the only one who finds it a bit weird when I hear somebody else singing a song originally sung by Axl?
When I heard Sheryl Crow's version of SCOM, I wasn't expecting to hear Axl since it didn't sound that much like the original. Now when I heard VR's covers, it did sound like GN'R but the singer wasn't the old one.
Maybe you expect to hear Weiland singing when you put on AFD?

you're totally missing my point and spinning the discussion.
forget about what the band's names are.....do you expect axl to show up with a bunch of scrubs and play gnr songs???
i would not.
hearing two people named buckethead and fink F up slash's solos was really weird for me.
VR could call themselves STP......but that would be bullshit.

Let me say coming off Friday night's show in Philly, it was an absolute honor and pleasure to hear VR perform Its So Easy, Bownstone, and Used to Lover Her. I also enjoyed hearing their new songs, and Sex Type Thing.

No, I think you are. I explained what I meant with weird. You're the one assuming what I meant with it.
Here's another exmaple for you: Let's say you see the Don't Cry video on tv and when Axl starts singing, you realize it's the alternative lyrics version. That would be weird since you're expecting the original lyrics.
