Could I be the very FIRST person in the world (amongst the music buying public) to actually have this in my hot little hands?
I'm not talking about the 1-track Slither promo either, I'm talking about the fully-fledged 3-track single with Slither (studio), Bodies (Live) and Negative Creep (studio)!!!
I went into my local music store (in Sydney, Australia) last week ot pre-order the Slither single and Contraband and they said they'd call me to let me know when they were instore. Anyway, I went down there today and asked when could I expect it and they had it there already!
Apparently it's not meant to go on sale until monday, but they were nice enough to let me buy it today!
So as of now, 5:30pm saturday 22nd of May, I think I'm one of the first to have this!
And what's even better, they told me Contraband should be instore monday-week, that being May 31st rather than June 7th, although I'm thinking it'll be out on the 7th still, but I guess I'll just have to wait to find out!
Ok, enough of my life story, you all wanna know how the single is right?
Well, we all know
Slither by now and it sounds just as good, if not slightly better than the high-quality version floating around on the net. And it's the same length too, no surprises there. Still kickass!
Bodies (Sex Pistols), many of you are familiar with from the El Rey bootleg, only difference here is the quality. This sounds as if they recorded it live in the studio, it's crystal clear and rockin!!!!
It's probably the best quality sounding live recording I've heard from these guys (Slash, Duff, Matt) ever! Scott does a wicked cockney-english accent on the song too!
And lastly,
Nirvana's Negative Creep sounds kickasss too!
I'd compare it to GN'R's cover of "I Don't Care About You" from the Spaghetti Incident, with an ending something like GN'R's "Shotgun Blues" complete with police siren going off in the background. There's also a bit where Scott is singing "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you" in the background that sounds allot like Axl sings in Right Next Door To Hell! hehe
Hmmm... other noteable things to point out:
Slither is credited as - Composer: Scott / Slash / Duff / Matt / Dave. Lyrics: Scott / Slash / Duff / Matt / Dave
So I guess that puts an end to the debate over whether Scott wrote all the lyrics by himself.
The band is credited as: Voices: Scott / Guitar: Slash / Guitar: Dave / Bass Guitar: Duff / Drums: Matt. Additional Background Vocals: Duff / Matt / Slash
The artwork is the same as what's been floating around the net too, the seized "Contraband" package.
All in all, very cool, and it's got me looking forward to Contraband even more, if that was possible! hehe
Oh yeah, I got a huge VR poster too, which is a big picture of the band with the 3 different album covers on the bottom.
