Talk about wanting to get publicity.

looks liek they want any news they can.,...for thier new album

suing axl
btm

cant get any more pathetic

especially since they didnt try to do any of these things prior to vr.....i guess they just thought about it on a whim?Huh

I thought they wanted to just move on....liars.

There was no greatest hits and interest in the GNR back catalog prior to VR thats why. Axl could make all of this press go away by just releasing a single, an album, a rant......anything. But he sits ideally by and does nothing. Again he has no one to blame but himself for putting himself in this position. Cry

Why release somehting when your not ready. It would only make things worse. You release singles when your album is ready to be released. When they are ready to let the material be heard we will get multiple single not just one. And when that day finally comes It will silence evryone.

What position ha she put himself in. I agree his pr moves have been horrible. But the fatc that he and the band have decided to remain quiet should be considered a fault. Theres a price that comes with that, and thatis speculation. And thats all that it is. speculation and rumor. great music cures a lot of things......thats why i never get wrapped up in this "the gnr name is ruined"

when bad music is released under the gnr name...that is when the gnr name will be ruined...till then keep trying to figure out how axl is an asshole.

Poor Axl lovers, you are frustrated because your god hasn't released anything in more than a decade. It's a shame that your only joy is bashing VR. You are so childish, can't you understand that loving Axl's music doesn't mean you must hate the Slash & Co. things?

I wanna know if the timing is just a coincidence or if it's just part of getting the VR name into the papers.

I don't care what you "Slash lovers" say, if you just write it off as a coincidence without even finding out if that's the case, then you might as well believe in the toothfairy because somebody told you it exists.

Well, couldn't the same be said for those who are automatically assuming they are doing this for publicity? Someone on the other thread made a good point that they may suddenly realize the GNR back catalogue was worth more because of the GH and decided to talk to a lawyer. Yet, everyone ignores that and automatically assumes the worst from these guys.

I admit the timing is suspect and I will think it's a bit lame if they decided to sue now for publicity but at the same time they are fighting for what they helped create so I can't fault them for that.

So what! Using promotion tricks is a great way to get your name out there and open doors to your music.  Good for VR.  You can't fault them for trying to be successful.

That cracks me up.  We're beyond "being ready"...he's been working on this thing for 7 or 8 years.  Either it's ready and Axl's insecurity or mental state is keeping him from declaring it "done" or the whole project is still a mess of musicians, producers, and unfinished ideas and we'll never see it.  It's really one or the other at this point.  (and since we really have no concrete information about the status of the recordings, I'd say either one is a pretty good bet)

There seems to be a slight paradigm shift here at the HTGTH site.  I mean i have for so long wanted to hear CD so bad, went to the London (UK) gig and loved it.

But after hearing VR and with a planned tour and release date, it just shows what can be done in a year or so and not 10 years.  I am more excited by VR these days, as i cannot see CD being released in the near future and it's sad.

Just want to add that i am loving the live set from KROQ radio station, and especially the 'I used to love her' version, brilliant.   yes

How does one "find out if thats the case," Jarmo?

So is it just assumed that they timed this to get their names in papers?

Okay, but are we supposed to assume otherwise in the meantime?  And once they answer the question and say "No" as I imagine they would, would you be satisfied with that?

The lawsuit could have been sparked at this time for any reason (something thats been worked on for awhile, something pertaining to the GH case, something else altogether), but I think its foolish to assume anything.

Assume what you want. It just seems like some people are writing off the theory right away because Duff and Slash are the "nice guys".

Who knows how muchthey're even involved in it. Maybe it's their lawyers' idea.

Well I think it's more interesting to talk about what the reason(s) might be instead of "oh, it's only because Axl is the asshole and he doesn't pay the ex-members".

Assume what you want.

I wont assume anything until proven otherwise.  I think it would be wise for everybody to do the same.

It just seems like some people are writing off the theory right away because Duff and Slash are the "nice guys".

Its a very unlikely theory.  The case looks to be a serious one, one that will cost them money and involves their business interests.  Suggesting that it was filed for promotion, especially since it doesnt seem very effective and the band already has plenty of promotion, just seems unlikely to me.

Who knows how muchthey're even involved in it. Maybe it's their lawyers' idea.

Nobody knows...which is why a lot of the discussion going on about this (most ridiculous of all, a boycott  hihi) is so silly.

Well I think it's more interesting to talk about what the reason(s) might be instead of "oh, it's only because Axl is the asshole and he doesn't pay the ex-members".

The reasons for the suit are kind of self-explanatory, arent they?  I thought your contention was with the timing?  And thats one thing nobody has any evidence to explain.

I do not see why this lawsuit would be a good PR for the VR album. I just don't get it.
I don't know why they turned to their lawyers - as someone said before maybe the success of GH made them aware of the 'old GN'R things', maybe they feel that they deserve more money, or just tired of what Axl does (or does not do) under the GN'R name. But if someone is fool enough not to buy the album and not to hear Slash playing...well, just do it, I don't care, hopefully I will enjoy Contraband. Slash's (and Axl's) works are just like pizza, like Mick Jagger said (about sex): although maybe it's not that good, it's really damned good.
