you accept Axl even after all the antics and stupid shit he's said, and yet, you won't even give Scott a chance....yeah yeah....a junkie loser? well if he is, then all the guys in the band is!

I think everyone will be more favourable to what Scott has to say when we are assured of his ability, c'mon June.......

I don't know I mean the review as a whole I thought was good...He welcomed them back to Jungle didn't  he?
Scott's response sounds very bruised ego based and that's probably because to some extent, he's a bit embarrassed  Embarrassedby the past couple of events that have happend in his life...being 30-something with a wife, kid and a knawing habit (which, I mean for awhile there, it was like, Dude you are lucky you have money behind you and rocknroll in front of you, because any other slob who was getting busted and making the choices you were making would be sitting in jail)
I didn't take it his comments seriously.  hihi
He just running his mouth, no harm no foul...alot like Axl...
...Axl's rants have a point -  LOL - No offense but,  peace
would we talking about the "I'm a victim" point, or the I'm the self absorbed, world is revolving around me" point peace

I just tried to get tix for the EFC show in Philly and I think the thing is sold out...they just went on sale this morning...

I'm chilled too now conny.  I shouldnt have said chill the fuck out, a bit rude on my part.  but yeah, i see your point.  Scott is a bit touchy, but again i think he is just a bit cranky, and trying to put his life back together.  I'm used to it being a long time STP fan, but I can def see how some of his comments worry or annoy those gnr fans that aren't used to him.  it shows a bit of instability on his part and scares us all who would like this project to succeed.  but i think all is good.

Izzy, if you're going to bash weiland, at least come up with some arguments that have merit.  you said earlier that scott is basically a no name...are you on crack?  You don't sell 28 million records and remain anonymous.  You don't write music with Aerosmith and the Doors and remain anonymous.  Unknown artists don't sell out concerts in 2 mins, which happened the last two times stp came to atlanta, not even at the height of their popularity.  You said he doesn't have an arsenal of hits?  Ok, ok, you arent on crack, now youre just drinking draino.  What do you call Sex Type Thing, Wicked Garden, Plush, Creep, Vasoline, Interstate Love Song, Big Empty, Big Bang Baby, Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart, Lady Picture Show, Down, and Sour Girl?  That's a list of hits, actual radio and video hits, that stand up pretty well against anyone.  It's your right to argue, but at least have some basis other than blind Weiland hatred.

Yeah i suppose u have a point.

My post was merely a comparison of STP and GNR due to the way Scott was trying to sound like Axl - in any comparison with GNR then STP do seem a nothing band.

28 million album sales - i read 14 million.....

I don't like Scott Weiland much (hopefully that will change) and what i have heard from VR is a bit dissappointing. I suppose i am just annoyed that something that had such promise.....well we will see in June whether it will live up to the hype, but i was hoping for something that wasn't STP with different musicians........

Yeah, i understand...just a big stp fan here (gnr as well), so naturally i'm going to defend scott.  yeah its 28 million, core alone has sold 8 million in the US, and Purple is approaching 7 million.  Hopefully, you'll find something more to your liking when the full album is released.

As far as I'm concerned, the only big hits there are Plush and Interstate Love Song.

I live in Europe, I guess it's different in USA. Maybe it was because Oasis was big over here when America was listening to STP.

From my own perspective, I agree with you.  In the 90's STP was "competing" with bands like the Pumpkins, Green Day, etc.  I'm not saying that STP didnt have great songs, they did.  But by and large, their hits were less visible than say, Smashing Pumpkins.

This is not an argument to say who is better.  It was just my observations from listening to the radio and watching MTV back in the day.  I watched a heck of a lot more tv back then than I do now.  Maybe it's because I dont have a tv now.  Grin

Jarmo, i think that's the difference in perspectives here.  A lot of y'all are from Europe so it is different.  STP wasn't nearly as big overseas as in America.  A lot of that had to do with STP not touring internationally that much because, you guessed it, weiland's affinity for smack.  In the U.S., however, all the songs i listed above were top ten singles, with the exception of down, and maybe one other, but all were successful, and still get frequent airplay on American radio.

Scott didn't say anything controversial today.

Well, unless you don't like his joke about tossing the salad

thank you kiedis.  like i said in my previous post.  Axl was a great frontman, but damn people, he didnt hang the moon.  I use was b/c what I saw on this last tour wasn't greatness.  Give Scott a fair chance.  He has no desire to be axl.  Axl didn't take out a patent on confronting the media.  If some of yall can get over your Axl fetish for just a little while, you will find scott to be a superb showman.

good call dude. though the comparison to Axl will doubtlessly (and somewhat correctly) be drawn when Weiland mouths off like that. From everything i've heard, this album sounds nothing like Appetite and everything like STP.
But it is absolutlely true that Weiland has nothing to prove about himself. He has over his career proved to be quite a unique talent (and a bit of a dick- always appreciated in rock and roll) and isn't riding anyone's coattails.
one thing though- this guy mentions jim morrison- has anyone ever made the comparison between scott and jim? (is it just the junkie lifestyle?) because i am a HUGE morrison fan and i never saw the comparison until now... is this something new?

Weilands a joke hihi

When u have an arsenal of hits (and fans) behind u then maybe u can ''do an Axl''

But as drugged up loser that most people have never even heard of then he's gotta wait his turn

To be honest i found his reamrks quite funny in that he is sooooo desperatley trying to be Axl, especially the last part, ''when I get "manic" on your ass motherfucker!'', its 'get in the ring' u clown!!! hihi

To be fair the part of the review that bothered me was when he said the album was nothing like Appetitte....yay we have Stone Temple Pilots with different musicians!!!! Fuck.

STP fans will be over the moon, there fav band with 'upgrades' - however fans of good ol'rock and roll have gotta be feeling worried about now......

Yea but at least all the member in this group will have their intruments plugged in... hihi

Unless Chris Pittman joins that is.... hihi

I disregard these jibes about poor Mr Pittman hihi

We all know he is the real genuis in GNR Wink

Anyway - strikes me that nobody's going to be a winner with VR's album

STP fans will find the album too 'rock' and GNR fans will find it too 'grunge'......well we will soon find out....

haha,  I thought you'd like the Pittman jab....

I don't think it sounds grunge at all.

I loved grunge in the day. And most people I know that liked those groups liked rock too. So IMHO I don't think that there will be that line divided like you said.

But who knows? Tongue

I think when their album comes out it will be the end of GnR (Waiting to get flamed). Only because Axl will never release the thing once VR is on the road, the radio and doing interviews. Just my opinion.

 Undecided

I've always thought of Sex Type Thing as their biggest hit, or at least as well-known as Plush... and everyone knows Sour Girl.

Anyways, saying a lot of people haven't even HEARD of Scott Weiland is messed.

I don't think so.  Morrison was never a junkie, I mean he used, but he was really an alcoholic.
