It would take a lot more time than you...

« on: April 21, 2004, 11:59:14 PM »

I've finally finished recording and mixing my first song ever.  So, I thought I'd share it with you all.

Just as a warning: I don't know how to sing.  I'm not really much of a musician yet.  The song is extremely simple, it's just the first song I've ever finished.

Anyway, if you have the courage, go ahead and listen.  The song is available at: http://www.verge-rpg.com/~loretian/the_laundry_girl.mp3

Just a couple notes...

First of all, the song title and lyrics come from a title jarmo gave me awhile back, "the laundryboy!" due to my battle with fecal demons all in the name of compassion - and originally the song was about "the laundry boy."  After awhile, I realized the lyrics would just work a lot better if it was laundry girl, but keep in mind, it's all really just a big joke.   Grin

I had a few friends help me with some of the instruments, since I can't play them all.  The credits are:
vocals, song writing, lyrics, eletcric rhythm, etc - loretian
lead guitar & solo - Greg Cardinal (http://www.gregcardinal.com - I completely cut up and redid his tracks, so if it sucks, it's my fault, not his)
accoustic rhythm - Erik Espe (http://www.erikespe.com)
bass - Spank Naughties
drums - stolen and cut up and changed from some "naked drum tracks" I found in a "using pro tools" book

Also featuring Smallz (aka My Roommate) on "Saxamaphone"

Also, big thanks to D and others for all their encouragement, and if you want to hear a real musician creating real music, I strongly recomend you check out what D has posted in this section (post more songs, D!)  ok

Some people have pointed out that my voice is hard to understand, so if you care, here are the lyrics:

The Laundry Girl
--

Laundry Girl, Laundry Girl
Laundry Girl, Laundry Girl

She's the laundry girl, and she'll clean your clothes
She's the laundry girl, and she always folds

We first met when I was five
She touched my hand
Yeah, she touched my hand

And now the years have flown on by
But she kept me alive
Yeah, she kept me alive

She was born in 1982
And that's one year less than you!
Her legend grew, and she did too
But she don't know, not her goal

She's the laundry girl, and she'll clean your clothes
She's the laundry girl, and she always folds

My heart was buried deep in the sand
But she pulled me out
Yeah, turned me about

I'm a grateful man, but I still don't understand
She touched my hand
Yeah, she touched my hand

A war was averted with only her gaze
And she broke through your haze!
The town was amazed so they offered her praise
The laundry girl, saves the world

She's the laundry girl, and she'll clean your clothes
She's the laundry girl, and she always folds

Laundry girl, always folds, yeah she always folds
Laundry girl, oh clean my clothes, oh please clean my clothes

She's the laundry girl, and she'll clean your clothes
She's the laundry girl, and she always folds

I'm losing sight
Drifting away
Drifting away

I'm losing sight
Drifting away
Drifting away

She lives to give, don't want her to die
Always gave more, and I got to know why
So, I will never let go
No, I will never let go

Thanks!  Smiley  I'm glad you found it to be funny, cause I was a little worried about that.  Anyway, I feel a lot better about posting it now.  ok

Haha. It's not exactly every day a custom title inspires somebody to write a song.  hihi
