Launch Radio Networks reports: JUDAS PRIEST recently performed two songs acoustically for an appearance on VH1 Classic, which will air on Saturday, July 16 at noon and midnight ET. While acoustic performances are relatively new territory for PRIEST, guitarist Glenn Tipton told Launch that the band may explore the idea further. "We're actually enjoying ourselves talking about some possibilities of what we could do acoustically, like an acoustic version of a metal song, not just an acoustic version of an acoustic song," he said. "So we're putting our heads together at the moment and trying to think how we can rearrange some of this stuff that would be interesting and valid."

PRIEST has been performing its cover of JOAN BAEZ's "Diamonds and Rust" acoustically on its current world tour.

Tipton also told Launch that PRIEST has tentatively settled on a title for the band's upcoming DVD, which was filmed earlier this year at the legendary Budokan in Japan. As Internet rumors have suggested, it will probably be called "Re-Unleashed in the East".

The DVD is expected out sometime in the fall, although no official release date has been set yet.

The group continues a North American trek in support of its latest album, "Angel of Retribution". PRIEST and opening act QUEENSR?CHE play in Auburn, Washington tonight (Wednesday, July 6).

JUDAS PRIEST are in the process of booking dates for the second leg of their North American tour, tentatively set to take place this fall. So far, only one date has been leaked: October 11 at the 3,000 capacity Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

As previously reported, PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton told ABC ePrep that the band's upcoming live DVD, featuring footage from their recent shows at Japan's Budokan, will be released in the fall.

JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the first leg of their North American with QUEENSR?CHE on May 30 at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

JUDAS PRIEST are continuing to tour in support of "Angel of Retribution", their first album with singer Rob Halford in 15 years. "Angel of Retribution" was produced by Roy Z, who has previously worked on solo albums from Halford and IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson.

JUDAS PRIEST's "Angel of Retribution" has sold a little under 150,000 copies in the United States to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan

Former JUDAS PRIEST and current ICED EARTH/BEYOND FEAR frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens has posted the following message in the "Forum" section of his official web site:

"PRIEST has informed me that they don't think it is a good idea to have BEYOND FEAR on any tours with them and that it would be best for me to drop the tribute/PRIEST factor. I know a lot of fans wanted this and I myself still like to please the fans. But it looks as though you will never see PRIEST and myself on the same tour. Sorry."

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"PRIEST BABY! We are heading out to the highway! Check the dates and see when we come to your town.

"I'm excited to play with JUDAS PRIEST. Well, I'm not playing with them... But I would LOVE TO!!!! HINT HINT. This is the metal tour I've been waiting for and I hope you have wanted this as well. I must give a BIG BIG 'THANK YOU' to JUDAS PRIEST.

""We will see you for 5 shows in September on the Gigantour. We haven't played those cities in a long time ? get ready!

"I went to the Ozzfest last week and had a ball. IRON MAIDEN were ON FIRE, whew! I felt like a young metalhead again. The MUDS, the SHADS, the MASTODONS were killer. The one thing that wasn't killer was that shitty hot dog I ate. What is wrong with me, I never eat hot dogs and here I was eating one, what the hell was I thinking? The 'dog' did not sit well with my metal. Thanks to Mr. Bittner for supplying me with beer to wash the 'dog' OUT!!!

"I just watched the Pam Anderson ROAST, Jeff Ross is a god. The shit he was saying... I almost pissed myself. Okay, I gotta go and do something productive.

"See your faces soon, Charles in Charge."

According to Amazon.com and several other online retailers, JUDAS PRIEST will be releasing their new live DVD, "Rising in the East", in the U.S. on November 8 via Rhino/WEA. PRIEST filmed and recorded their May 18-19, 2005 shows at the Budokan in Tokyo, Japan for the full-length concert DVD. The band used three cameras and two large screens during the sold-out shows, which were attended by a total of 20,000 people.

In a June 2005 interview with the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline", JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford confirmed the group's plans to release one or more live DVDs documenting PRIEST's "Angel of Retribution" tour. Halford said, "We had a wonderful moment recently where we played our hometown in Birmingham, in the Midlands, and we played at the NEC, which is like a big top-notch rock venue, and there were 10,000 metal maniacs there, and we actually filmed that show. We also filmed a show at a famous venue in Sweden called the Globe, and then more recently we filmed two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo . . so we're stock-piling all of this stuff, and eventually, when we get a little break, we'll make sense of it all, and we'll start feeding it out there. So you may get PRIEST at home in Birmingham, you might get PRIEST 'Re-Unleashed in the East' [original working title] in Japan, which is a nice idea, because as you know, that is one of our famous releases ? 'Unleashed in the East'. We thought about this, because it was kind of an anniversary trip back to Japan, so we actually DVDed and we ProTooled recorded the whole show. So we're just amassing everything as we go along ? we'll probably do the same here in America ? and then we'll bring out little pieces, either a worldwide piece or a piece from one country, whatever, we're gonna mix it up and just keep all the stuff going for the PRIEST fans out there that can't get enough of this."
