These are some really FUCKED UP movies.  I guess they're good.  They are not like any other ones I've seen.

Yeah, Bully is based on a true story as well. The movie is well done, and the director is as provacitive as it gets in film making. It's really a classic in my mind.

I am an old fashioned romantic type of gal....because inorder for a relationship to be successful, you need to be each other's best friend.

My favorite movie of all time is:

"When Harry Met Sally" [ok]

starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan Wink

This isn't goig to be too original but I have to vote for the Godfather.

For something not quite mainstream, I really like "The Virgin Suicides" Great movie. Great soundtrack.

Rawkr, you need to see Scorsese's two early films, WHO'S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR and BOXCAR BERTHA.

Thanx for the tip Dizzy.

For anyone interested I've compiled a short list of underrated films that are really good;

1. Bitter Moon (vicous black comedy from Roman Polanski)
2. The Acid House (makes Trainspotting Look like a Disney flick)
3. Bully (teenagers today... [no])
4.  Christiane F. (brutal film about heroin, German, great David
Bowie Soundtrack)
5. Dancing at the Blue Iguana (strippers...yay Cheesy, what Showgirls should have been)

Be forewarned, all these films are rather gritty...just the way I like 'em.

« Reply #56 on: January 20, 2003, 03:37:35 AM »

Okay, here's my top 11 (and even though I hate lists usually, I don't think we've had one like this in over a month so):

1 - 5:
Magnolia
American Beauty
Amelie
Happiness
Almost Anything by Kubrick
6: Fight Club
7: Dancer In the Dark
8: American History X
9: Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
10: LOTR trilogy
11: the Austin Powers trilogy

A special mention to almost every Kevin Spacey and Bruce Willis movies. I'm quite fond of some of Brad Pitts work for some reason.. Out of women actors, it's Portman all the way. The work she did in Leon was just amazing. And she doesn't look too bad right now either.

The films through 1-4 don't really have a priority. They're all just amazing.
