Fuck! Just heard FreeBird. A 4:10 min solo with 2 guitars? Rock on!? peace

I could be wrong on this one, but wasnt Freebird recorded using 3 guitars, (two rhythm, and one lead)?
The solo is done with 2 guitars.

Thanks for clearing up that misconception. Just downloaded Simple Man and its fuckin' gold! ok

Seems like after Ronnie died the rest of the guys are just carrying on the Skynard brand, their best music was when Ronnie was alive.

True, GnRFL, but they have released stuff since his death and its actually pretty good.  I thought that one song that was on the radio a couple years back, Red, White, and Blue, was excellent.

Two generations of Southern rock will come together this June and July as Lynyrd Skynyrd and 3 Doors Down co-headline the Double Trouble Summer Tour.
The 15-city trek begins June 25 in Cincinnati and wraps July 22 in Biloxi, Miss. The bulk of the dates are in the South and Midwest, but they'll cover some Yankee territory as well, including three shows in Pennsylvania.
"We've been trying to go on the road with these guys for a while," Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Johnny Van Zant said. "We've done a few events together, but our schedules haven't worked out before now. We're excited about these shows. It's going to be a high energy, old school meets new school Southern rock concert you don't want to miss."
"It's going to be an honor to share the same stage with these guys every night," 3 Doors Down vocalist Brad Arnold said. "Like so many others, I grew up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. We've been friends with the guys for years, so it's going to be great to finally get to tour together."
Founding Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington added, "We're going to double the pleasure, double the fun and double the trouble on this tour!"

I like the idea of this tour but 3 Doors Down should only get an extended opening slot not co headline

I really like Simple Man and I Know a Little... fantastic songs, Simple Man for it's sombre depth and I Know a Little for the sick little guitar licks.

< Pretty big Skynyrd fan over here.

The solo is done with 2 guitars.

This is actually one of those rock myths.

The solo is done with 1 guitar (amazing huh?).  Allen Collins had every note memorized and laid it down in the studio.  The producer went back and had him play it again, and since he had it memorized he nailed it again except for like 2 measures.  Then the producer just doubled them on the album.  The producer didn't tell Collins that he was going to double the solo and didn't let Collins play along to the first solo that he had recorded.

never listened to these guys before.

i kenw who they were.

After having a moment of, well suddenly wanting to hear slide guitar.

i got the greatest hits, and they absolutly rock, i love the guitaring and his (ron) voice was awesome.

i didnt know they reformed with different members i thought they ended after the plane crash, shame, most good artists die.
