Mattman, I agree with everything you said...Saddest day since Duff walked away. I'm really getting sick of all these clearly inspired, yet delusional comments on this board about what Axl will do next....He COULD have a revolving door of 75 more guitarists come in, he COULD play sold out shows across the world...He COULD release 7 albums in 5 years with 300 songs on them....He COULD theoretically become vocalist for VR if Weiland can't handle more than 3 hours on the road...I'd bet my life on the chance that Axl will do NONE of the above....It's not "just another blow", it's indicative of a much larger problem. Axl can't be relied upon to "get his shit together" for any meaningful length of time.
He WAS the saviour for this band..Not to take anything away from the other musicians, but most of the respect that this new incarnation was getting from the musical community came from Bucket's involvement..No, that's too generalizing of a statement..He's no Slash, but Fuck-all, Slash is sure as hell no Bucket....Flame away, but the guy has an unmistakable aura and a larger than life CHARACTER, with inhuman technical proficiency to boot.....This was the intangible that made the band special....The arguments about his "freakish" apprearance hold no merit whatsoever and are flat out sophomoric and boring...If you feel the need to be that superficial, go watch the OC and wax your eyebrows...If anything, Axl should be wearing a mask to hide all the Botox injections and chemical peelings, but I digress...Do you see how moronic the appearance arguments sound?? The whole band looks like a bunch of disjointed freaks, but at the very least it made them stand apart from the pack.
Don't fire back with optimistic rationalizations like "We've never heard him on any material, therefore, he's replaceable." I said before, as a 7 year fan, in my eyes, he's NOT, I assure you....The post earlier by SlashsAxl referring to the "Hillbilly-Chicken stuff" he plays on his records is just pure ignorance...You don't like the material, fine, but don't demean the ability or the playing by diluting it into some uninformed statement like that. I recommend listening to more than a few tracks before making your judgment....The man play all genres with unmatched adeptness.
What's the other argument on this board? Oh...the "ROCK" attitude....give me a break....how fickle....you can throw together all of these pseudo music journalistic descriptive phrases like this: "LA strip club rock n roll decadent punk-inflected self destuctive dangerous sleaze", and what does it amount to?....Yes, we all know the original GNR lived their music, and it created a combustible element...fantastic...How long has it been since any member of GNR, past or present, conducted their lives in that manner?...Do you miss it? Great, but that edge was gone in 1990, so faulting the new band for lacking such an attribute is pointless.
By Buckethead creating his own character and following his own muse, living his life without a concern in the world for outside influence, THAT'S ROCK N' ROLL!! Fuck, Johnny Cash was far from a Rock icon as determined by your definitions, didn't record any dirty sleazy blooze Aerosmith boogies, yet he's more Rock and Roll than any of us taking shelter behind our PC's could ever hope to be....It's all abouT how you conduct your life, not setting parameters for yourself...That's more punk rock than coming out in black leather and red hair, with a padlock around your neck....He's a little to tough for some on here to package in a neat little shoebox and digest, so what?
I'm miserable about this!
Very true..Great post!

that's your choice. but then what's the point of defending them now? guns n' roses has always been an unpredictable band, and i'm glad it continues to be. axl rose is an unpredictible man, and that, along with his presence and talent, is what makes him so great. he will pull through this, no doubt, just hang in there. we'll get rewarded for our wait, i'm sure of it. music is supposed to be fun anyway. if you're fed up with the band, take a fucking break from them. simple as cake.

if gnr can survive losing slash they will survive losing buckethead
only thing is now will buckets parts be erased? that means more delays!
maybe bucket is just on hiatus till axl feels like releasing cd then will be back
if all themusic is done he might just leave till axl finishes the vocals then rejoin when axl decides to get his shit together
They didnt survive losing Slash.

If this story is proved to be true, I must say I don't understand Buckethead's decision. He may have been bored with GN'R's inactivity, but he's had plenty of liberty to play. He's released several albums in the last few years, participated to every god-forsaken project on this planet and has toured throughout the US and also Europe recently. It's not like he was sitting on his ass doing nothing.
He can't be leaving out of sheer boredom. Something else must have happened.... maybe disagreements on the musical direction or bad relationships with the members of the band

it is not really official just because it is on MTV. a rather week article. there is no good reason for Bucket to leave GNR. he has time to make his Solo CDs and to go on tour. what is the problem?

I'm absolutely destrought. If RiR4 turns out to be a shambles like the last one, if we're going to be waiting over the summer.....autumn....winter, again with no word of anything, then that will be it for me.
I will take all of my Guns music, videos, dvds, posters, memorabilia and put it all in a box in the attic and remove all saved lins to GnR sites. Because I can't deal with this anymore. I've pinned so much on this for so long, I've believed in Axl and what he's been trying to do for the last 10 years and Madagascar has been my personal anthem since Rio 3.
I've change from feeling he doesn't owe us anything to feeling like we deserve not to hear news like this from MTV of all places and have to speculate for weeks on end about whether the band we've loved and supported through so much shit is not going to be there for us in return.

Next changes in Guns n Roses? It looks on it, that premiere of new material becomes less credible ' ' more Guns n Roses guitarist has left group - exactly, Buckethead. There can be uncomforted such development of (evolution of) situation , so, usually personal changes caused, that sole original member (limb) was sewed up in studio ( ' ' ) Axl Rose Guns n Roses and material recorded again. Case is in so far as serious, that work last over round titled from 7 lat (summer; year) " " already Chinese Democracy. They let's remember, that they have summoned plant for court (trial) ' ' Guns n Roses Universal Music, which has issued them biggest hits . By the reason of indignation one Axla and there was companies balk other, that could pull back note round of group again COMPILATION. Really have plate (disc) appear actual therefore, soon? Believe to it heavily. While it's known < known > that only, that court (trial) has recognized (has regard) summons for unfounded and it will not be occupied (dealt with) case.

Well...
1 - I can think that BHEAD is tired ( like we are ) of this long wait... he just want to put a record out and play the songs, well, 4 years and just a few shows and NO RECORD OUT... that?s why maybe he tough "fuck this, I already recorded my parts 1 year ago, I have to move on..." ( like SORUM said when he left the band, that he just want to play and doesn?t want to keep waiting axl?s laws... and he came back to THE CULT )
2 - MAYBE BHEAD was just a TEMPORARLY MEMBER OF THE BAND, that his contract was just something like "you?ll contribuite with the new GNR album and tour a little bit", that?s why GNR have 3 GUITARRISTS...
4 - BHEAD just listened the full record now and tough "NOTHING SPECIAL, I?VE DONE THINGS BETTER IN MY OWN SPACE" and just left GNR, but he?ll leave with him the "ego" and respect of beeing a member ( ex? ) of one of the best bands in the world -> GNR - and DEFINATELY it will help him to sell a lots of records and put his name on top
5 - All the new members contract: "DON?T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CHINESE DEMOCRACY" means that Axl knew since the beggining that something may change since ?99 ( PAUL TOBIAS, BHEAD... )
just my thoughts...
(SORRY THE ENGLISH! I?m doing the best I can...)

pat-- i agree with what you are saying, but its not going to happen.
The right time to release it would have been either shortly after the VMAs or shortly after or before the 2002 tour... that was when there was momentum behind GnR. Now? does anyone really think that Axl or whoever else is responsible for CD is going to release it when they are on the downswing? it doesn't work that way. Axl has waited 7 years, trying to get CD as perfect as he possibly can and he's going to suddenly release it in a panic when the shit has hit the fan?
Oh yeah badgirl, believe me, I completely agree with you. CD should have been on the shelves after the VMAs or coinciding with the 2002 tour...but as you know, Axl fucked that up as well (although I guess there's no way to really prove whether or not this was his fault).
Still, it really should have been out by now. I was just saying it's either now or later in the future, where nobody except us fans won't really care at all...
Sure, I'm waiting for a few other albums to released and I'm looking forward to those. But this one...so much hype and mystery to it, I just gotta hear this to see what has taken so long...

Oh yeah, and while Axl may think it's a great idea to learn guitar...it's not, in my opinion.
In my eyes, James Hetfield is an ultimate frontman as a singer/rhythm guitarist. Axl is an ultimate frontman as just a singer...imagine a GNR concert where he's pretty much tied to the stage because he has to handle guitar duties.
Normally I would support a singer learning guitar, but in this case, I think it would really really hurt GNR's live show, not having Axl able to just run around and do his thing.
Zakk Wylde is one of the only people who I think can take BHead's spot...dunno if he will though.

I don't see Zakk and Axl lasting 10 minutes in the same band. Think about it, Zakk is a huge, bad ass dude. Axl is a little whiny control freak.
After about 10 minutes Axl would go, "Hey Zakk, stop drinking so much. You need to go back and fix that last solo, it wasn't perfect. Better do 34 takes of it, just to make sure you get one that I can use."
And then Zakk would kick Axl's ass and leave.

Im suprised Dark and Pilferk have not had much input in this thread.
Dark has some inside connections from what we have heard in the past and Pilf is a fountain of knowledge.
Maybe there investigating as we speak.

Nice post ONEWAY. "IT'S ALL OVER NOW BABY BLUE". How sad. I really just wish Axl would take all this material and release a few eclectic solo records. Just end the Gnr thing. Give the record company Chinese to release as Gnr since the cat is already out of the bag, and Geffen paid for it. Then, he can negotiate out of the contract so you can have the rest of the music released as solo material. The Gnr thing is just too much pressure for the guy to handle by himself-the touring etc etc. This way he doesn't have to re-record parts everytime someone gets fed up with him.
