Im not a Gilby Hater my any means and i actually like the guy as it happens...but is he anygood at Lead?
If he is then im all for it!
Yeah, he played with Heart last year and he kicked ass on lead. But he's playing on the new Heart album, so he probably has tour requirements for them coming soon.

Gilby is locked into heart for the summer. Plus his name was just mentioned as a joke, I don't see him ever playing for Axl again.

GnR had survived with out Slash,

if gnr can survive losing slash they will survive losing buckethead
I must ask you guys, since when did GNR survive the loss of Slash?
The past four years indicate how slim this band's survival capabilities really are.

Wow. This is truly sad. I don't follow all the rumors that float around here on a weekly basis so i didn't see this coming at all.
But it doesn't surprise me. Many of us here post all these grand theories about Guns and Axl, trying to connect dots, and like it is in life, the simplest explanation is usually the right one. Guns n Roses is, most likely, over. If it didn't work with this new lineup, its truly doubtful it's going to work with anyone else.
We need to surrender the pipe dream. Wait to see if he pulls out of RIR or what he says there and then let it go.

HeHe, thats a good point, Dizzy. If by surviving the loss of Slash they meant "turned into the biggest joke in music", I guess they've got a point.

I think GnR will cancel Rio(maybe) and that Finck could be out soon as well. Does anybody out there has any hope still?

Wasnt there a wild rumor going back months ago about Zakk Wylde going to GNR to replace Bucket??? OH well guess if it was meant to be this is the time to call good ol' Zakk.... me I would love to see Izzy patch things with Axl and get back on board to give this thing a bit more legitimacy cuz quite frankly GNR right now is as dead as the Undertaker (looooooooooool)

I've seen Gilby a million times. He's not even decent. It's fun watching him play lead guitar for his solo band. But to go from BucketHead to Gilby. You gotta be kidding me!

Good call. Rio is it. If they're there, they can survive. If not, it's really finally over. For this incarnation at least.
Personally, i think they won't confirm it, won't show up, and that will be that.
Such a shame. People in this band worked really hard to share this music with the world. Who know's what's to blame. Axl is here to make music. But Perfectionism is a blessing and a curse. it needs to be balanced by action and energy. Perfectionism+isolation+arrogance=stagnation.
A waste of amazing gifts and talents.

Unless the thing about Buckethead just being in to replace Finck and then once Finck came back he was "taking up space", meaning most of it is Finck's material ANYWAY and for all we know, Axl really is close with Bucket and didn't want to kick out his friend so he has waited all this time for him to get sick of it and leave, I see one way to fix this. Now let's see: Guitarist and drummer are very close, seem almost like brothers. So, if one leaves, the other follows. Who is the only guitarist in rock/metal that was once transcendent, head and shoulders above even Buckethead, but needs pushed by a brilliant lyricist or he's going to write cheese ballads like he did after he kicked out his own brilliant lyricist? His fans decry him for keeping his original band name after one of the most dynamic members left, even though the band name includes HIS name? His website was updated and old news was wiped clean clean the same day gnronline.com was updated and old news was wiped clean? His brother IS his drummer, and you can't have one without the other? His name is Eddie Van Halen, and last I checked, he was without a record label.

Van Halen should be touring this summer.
this is diasterous. As if a comet was heading toward earth and there was no way to stop it. GnR are most likely finished; if brain walks as he probably will, then the band will no longer exist. CD will probably be hidden away by the label as legal wranglings will no doubt result. Axl will be sued for breach of contract and probably lose his advance plus damages. Buckethead held alot of power in the band; he and the rest of us should have been treated better.

why would brain leave? it's not like he has anything better to do... i mean he can still play on buckets records and it's not like he doesn't need the dollars that gn'r bring in, plus last but not least, i think he likes playing infront of thousands of people...

I wouldn't compare Axl's band to Van Halen. Van Halen has a new record deal. Van Halen has a US tour for this summer in the works. Van-Halen.com has a funcioning newsletter. All recent Van Halen rumors have been positive.

If this turns out to be true, this is NOT the end of GnR.
My god, I can't believe so many people believe Buckethead WAS GnR.
For the majority of casual GnR fans, he was too strange and electic to be accepted. Yes, I understand all the guitar afficiando's are thinking the world is ending. Buckethead is a good player & great talent, although I don't think he actually fit into the band. He is (was) a hired gun. IF he's gone, he'll be replaced.
If they end up releasing CD with his guitar on it, so be it. He was (and will) be paid for his work, unless Axl wants it all redone. And...maybe it's just a threat to try and light a fire under Axl. Who knows.
But if Slash, Izzy, Steven, and Duff can leave GnR without the band dissolving, it can sure as hell survive Buckethead leaving.

i don't know about the intricacies about the relationships between the members of new Guns n Roses, but as far as other members leaving-- why would you hang around on a sinking ship? no matter what happens with CD, this is MORE drama (fact, not opinion) and i could see why someone wouldn't want to be associated with that anymore.
When there was an upswing, and momentum around the 2002 tour, THAT was a good time to be part of this band. Now, on a major downswing, this is a good time to bail, move on, do something new. Guns N Roses, as much as many of you don't want to believe, are largely considered a joke to the general public (not the kind of people who post on fan sites) and this is only going to make it worse. It makes absolute sense for the other guys to bail.

haha...that's hilarious. I would actually like to hear that collaboration. Vh has a record deal, official management, a contract with a major tour promoter for this summer, etc..The band is intact with Sammy Hagar and will be touring this summer.

they havet really survied or failed.... only the new CD will determine this.... so if buckethead is out, nothing changes in the Grand scheme of things... since 2 lead guitarists was never the plan anyways.... Robin was Slashes original replacement....

(Buckethead will start a solo tour Wednesday (March 17), opening for Particle in Austin, Texas. Dates run through April 15 in Atlanta.)
Why doesnt someone go to one of the shows and see what the fuck is going on. Fight your way backstage and demand answers. If you get nothing then go to the next show and pluck feathers from a live chicken. If Bucket still doesnt talk bite the chickens head off and threaten to eat off the head of every chicken in the world. I'm sure Bucket will start to talk.
just kidding
But seriously guys/girls come on just calm down and have some patience. How many times have we fallen for another fucked up rumor.(Too many to count). By know you should know to take things with a grain of sand until it comes from Axl or management.
And for those who say fuck Axl and fuck Guns N Roses they are over. I know you will be standing in line with me the day CD is released. Dont give me shit cause I have been waiting just as long as you have.
