According to the RCA Records website, Velvet Revolvers Contraband has been pushed back three weeks to June 8...

Very disappointing news...I might have to just download it when it becomes available (which should be a few weeks before the official release).   Undecided

Uh oh. Sad

Wonder why? Nobody seems to push back releases these days thanks to the downloading.

VR are cancelling and pushing back releases more than Axl these days.  hihi

Go ahead, whine about that lame joke. You guys should be able to take one joke after all the years of joking about CD.  hihi Tongue

Okay Jarmo, here's my lame joke:

I'm willing to bet they will at least spell Contraband correctly on the cd (unlike some other disasters).  Tongue

1) Perhaps they are waiting for Scott to complete his rehab?  So far, Slash, Duff & Matt have been doing all the promotion.  But once the album comes out - you cant have an MIA frontman!
2) Or is it because of production delays and that kind of stuff?    Huh
3)  Is there some major album release from another artist on the original release date, and RCA doesnt want to compete?

In any case, I've heard enough material to not lose hope.  They're doing lots of interviews which keeps the VR name in the public eye.

Is Scott gonna be out in June?

When they announced the original release date, weren't Scott's problems already known at that point (that he was gonna be in rehab)?

I know Kravitz's new cd comes out the 18th, but if they delay it because of that its bullshit.

I'm curious as to why, but if I've got a date that's good enough.

I guess I can rule my reason (2) since if that had been the reason, they would just explicity stated it when announcing the delay.

I think so, yes.  Maybe they've received some new information from his doctor.  But 3 weeks seems a very small delay if Scott's drug problems are the holdup.  I mean, if he's not alright, is he magically gonna get better in 3 measly weeks?

Agreed.  But perhaps they found out that Chinese Democracy is gonna be released in May  hihi     rofl

I blame the fact there is no video. Scott see's the judge he saw on the 5th on the 23rd I think, so they hope then he can shoot the video and release it on the 12th when the song hits the radio.

Most logical reason I've heard.

i think everyone involved has been hoping and assuming scott would get some leniency with the judge. but that doesn't seem to be the case. depending on how his next hearing goes, i wouldn't be surprised if it gets moved again.

june 8 is cool though....a band from my neighborhood that i've been talking up in the "bad obsession" threads - Silvertide - releases their debut on the same day. and they have some VR connections.....
- they signed for millions with clive davis
- VR has been somewhat of a mentor to them
- the lead guitarist is "slash jr." - no exaggeration.

Not likely, since its been completely done (mastered, mised) for months and has recieved great reviews from every outlet that has heard it.  Not to mention Slash & Co. selling it as "the best album [hes] ever done".

My guess is that the video postponement might have had something to do with it, since they want to push it best as possible.  So while it does suck, its good that record company might actually handle this correctly and give them the push they deserve.  Besides, this album will almost definitely leak early, and probably get pushed up.

Delays, delays, delays...How many times has the release date been pushed back officially or unofficially? First it was supposed to be out by christmas, then january, february, march, april, may...and now june. I somehow doubt that it will even be out by then, since there has already been so many delays.  If they had just originally said that it will be out by june, it would have been cool. But constantly delaying the album by a few weeks is not. They have to get a hold of theirselves and stop doing the GN'R on us.
