The "new" Guns n' Roses...and internet

ok, it's not a very positive thing but....have you already tried to speack about the "new" Guns n' Roses on the internet? (on other bands message board for exemple). Everytime I try to "promote" the new band, either most of people just doesn't care AT ALL, or they come and say "GN'R sucks now I don't care! no slash, no izzy, no duff, what is that?. However, I can't wait for Velvet Revolver! they're much cooler" and blablabla...in fact, I think the new Guns n' Roses doesn't interest people at all. everytime I try to promote them, people don't care. For them, Guns n' Roses is the past, they say it's over, they think that's an "old band", they say they're "has been" etc...
THE VMA 2002 KILLED THEIR REPUTATION. every time, every time, people come and tell me "the horrible vma 2002 performance", "that was terrible" etc...(personately I was blown away at the moment...
)
Have you already tried to promote the new band on the internet? am I the only one to have very negative comments on them or not? I just want to know what people tell you about them...what do they think?

Ive talked about them on other music boards. Most people think there ok, but that the new lineup arent as good as the old lineup and that its all a big joke now due to the not releaseing of new material.

Well i post on a Leeds festival message board, so alot of people that post there saw them live in 2002 - hence the good comments. You get alot of "Yeh they were good, but there not as good as the old band" and "Yeh, Axl and his backing band were good" etc.etc.

it seems that people who don't know much about the band or have only seen that vma appearance are very negative. people who have seen them or heard from others about them aren't as bad. but without new material, i guess it's hard to expect anyone to pay attention or care, other than hardcore fans.
i actually told a friend of mine about them last week and he was really excited to hear. he said he loved guns n roses back in the day but heard bad things about Axl's new lineup, and only that it didn't have the old guys. when i told him robin and buckethead were on guitar, he became really excited. i think perception will change after CD is released.

I don't know...the only thing I can tell you is that people have really amazing good comments and exitation about...Velvet Revolver.
Personately, I will buy both albums (contraband and chinese democracy). I miss Slash, duff, matt and the old Guns n' Roses vibe a lot. I know I won't be desapointed at all because I will recognize the old good Guns n' Roses sound with Velvet Revolver. I've grown with that sound for nearly all my life! it's part of me. It's inside me.
For "chinese democracy" that's totally different: that will be something new, with a new band, a new style, a new sound...it's both exiting and very risky. Axl starts from scratch, he has ALL to proove. Not velvet Revolver. It's much more difficult and risky for Axl and his new boys. They are not the "real" Guns n' Roses so people will be much more exigent.

I agree. I think the enthusiasm will increase once there is something to hear. Most people havent heard The Blues, etc so they dont know how good the band is.
VR does a lot of publicity : magazine covers, playing gigs, and hanging out in public. You know - regular, normal band stuff. So I'm not surprised if people are eager to hear them.

Rocktar it's probably got more to do with the fact that you come across as being:
a) Very annoying
and
b) Anti-new GNR
Anyway, when I do it most people are like "well it's a band of wannabes then" and I say "But look at all their solo work and other bands". Any negativity doesn't come from the VMA show. There's a billion people on the internet, how many of them do you think watched the MTV VMA in 2002?

I recieved quite a postive reviews I made an album with New GN'R stuff on it and I played to my mates they said they are just as good as the old band. They liked The Blues alot I must I didn't really think the VMA's was great, dont get me wrong I loved but they could have done a lot better but total surprise I think put GN'R on PPV and then people will change they're minds because of the VMA's come like they were given 3 songs and not very long GN'R on PPV and people will change there mind.

People worry too much about what others think of the new band
99% of the population don't even know what the new band looks like - let alone what they sound like
Why worry about the 1% of GNR fans on the net who are stuck in the past? Its the 99% of the general public that are a bigger issue.

Sorry if have the wrong person, but aren't you the guy who's been posting about Gn'R on
www.oasisforum.com
? I seem to remember that you got some mixed comments, including some very favourable ones, including mine. As it appears, you only started getting nasty responses after starting the same topic for the 23d time.
Oh, and if it's you, 'I'm standing for the new Gn' R' doesn't mean you support it.

Yes it's me. I wrote a couple of messages about the new Guns n' Roses some weeks ago indeed. and yes I support them, like I support Velvet Revolver too. in fact I support the whole Guns n' Roses (old and new). I just want to see them to the top again.
Endly, I love Oasis too. I heard they are working on a new album aren't they?

oasis has to do one more album with the current label..then they have free hands to make contract with other labels.

Oasis are currently recording with Death In Vegas as producers. A DVD should be released to celebrate Definitely Maybe 10 years anniversary. How amazing it is to think that in the 10 years Gn'R have been away, Oasis released 5 studio albums, countless EPs which, in turn, spawned one more album (and a great one) and 3 live DVDs. Although they cancel a lot of gigs and their tours often turned sour (that and a shitty official website is something they have in common with Gn'R), I managed to see them live 6 times. When you're a Gn'R fan it's good to also be a fan of a more active band.

A lot of Guns n' Roses fans are also Oasis fans, and a lot of Oasis fans are also Guns n' Roses fans. I don't know why. Maybe because it's just "Rock n' Roll" and this is the same audience. Oasis is the only band for me who had nearly the same level of success in Europe than Guns n' Roses back in the days (1992). Around 1996/1997/1998 Oasis were really huge in Europe. But I think Guns n' Roses were even bigger in Europe in 1992 because they sold-out stadiums at every concert. I think Guns n' Roses were bigger. But yeah, They are the 2 biggest Rock phenomenon I've ever seen in my opinion in Europe for 10/15 years. Nirvana come third.

I mean, Oasis' fanbase is the indie crowd (even though it has largely outgrown it) and said indie crowd has always dispised Gn'R.
