nobody ever told me baby, how it was going to be

Ok, here is an idea that I had today, it may be far-fetched but just read it and give your thoughts.

So we all know we have been waiting forever for the new cd, and we don't really know the hold up.  Most of us are blaming Axl or the record company for the wait.  A while ago Axl had mentioned that there was enough material to have 3 albums released sometime.  Now you remember that when UYI were released they were released back to back.  Do you remember how long it took for these album's to be released?  A long time, I think 3 years or somewhere around there.  As far as I know it this was the only time that has ever happened in music.

Maybe Axl wants to go one step farther and outdo the old group.  Maybe the hold up is because he is planning to release all three albums back to back to back.  I know there hasn't been any talk about it releasing all of them, just Chinese Democracy.  But I could see Axl at a press release saying "Now I know its been a while since we have released any new material.  Thats because we have been recording material for three albums.  And now I am going to release all three masterpieces like we did with the UYI."

Wouldn't that blow you out of the water?  That would be such a surprise to the music world, it would be insane.  They would go on tour playing all new music.

Well, just a thought....

That sounds crazy (i.e. it sounds 'Axl') but I did have the same thoughts (I must be crazy too).

In the hair stylist thread, Aura mentions 3 albums (I dont know if we can trust a hair stylist, but anyway), and if it's true, then all this delay & waiting doesnt seem so bad.

You know what? If they did release 3 albums at the same time, it WOULD blow me out of the water!  It would definitely be worth the wait.

However, from the point of view of a record label, I see why they would be against it cuz it would reduce the total amount of sales you would by releasing & promoting each album separately.

There isn't one album

If that's the way that you really feel Izzy, why are you here man? Huh

That boggles my mind that you're actually this negative and then you take the time to come here and read posts and respond to posts with such negative compulsion.

[headscratch]

I just don't get that.

I can't wait too see what the new band can do - but Axl's ''delays'' begin to make u wonder

C'mon Izzy. You know in your heart that CD is and will be released man. Quit denying it. Axl hasn't come out of the shadows to just throw in the towel now. Not after all the hard work he's put into it. I just don't get why people would actually believe that he would give up. I also think I'm gonna' run out of steam trying to defend Axl against all of the negative people.

3 albums could make sense.  If you looked at the new GNR existing from 1998 to present, then taking this long to make 3 ablums is realistic.  Especially if they are going to be up to Axl's standards.

However, I really don't think that's the case.  Most of the members are off working on side projects, etc.  Which means they aren't working on the sequel to Chinese Democracy.

I don't think there is a masterplan.  And if there is, someone needs to inform Axl!

You know what? this actually makes sense.

tsi was 10 years ago. now Axl has not been fully committed for 10 years but surely a few years longer than the UYI preparations. with thousands of hours in the studio i imagine he has a whole vault of material.  wasn't there interviews in the lated 90's where they said he had all-nighters working and tons of instruments and all these musicians coming and going? I think they could release 2 albums plus something else (dvd? or whatever!) and still have material for a 3rd. The other band-mates have been eerily silent and amazingly have stood close with Axl even with the aborted tour and NO NEW MATERIAL ...yet. surely they must be hanging on for something?

i've been reading this board constantly, i figured i should sign up...

i doubt that they're going to release more than one album now, it just doesn't make sense (they don't have the selling power they did with UYI). but as far back as '99 when Oh My God came out, Axl said they had worked on about 70 songs. then when they were touring he said that they would be releasing CD and then releasing another one about a year or so later. so it definitely makes sense to think that a big reason for this long wait has been working on material for a later album or two.

Maybe they have a couple cd's worth of material and when they release Chinese Democracy they will start on a tour for a year or so.  Then after their tour, release the next album and start another tour.  That way they won't have to wait for another year or so making a new album.

Lay off of him. Izzy is the kind of the guy who questions the very existence of Chris Pittman.  As he explained earlier, he wrote that in a 'despondent' mood. Have you never felt that way about CD?

You "believe" that there are 3 albums.  I believed Aura until she turned out to be a hermaphrodite.

Can you bet that Axl wont make a repeat of the 2002 fiasco?

I really hope there is 3 albums too, and i believe 2004 will see the return of GNR. And i also believe this GNR has the potential to be better than the old band.

I can't wait to see what they can do - but as Februry rolls into March and still nothing - can u blame me for beginning to grew concerned?

But as for Chris Pittman - i dunno, i remain to be convinced he exists at all Wink ok
