GUNS N' ROSES bassist Tommy Stinson has completed work on his debut solo album due later in the year through Sanctuary Records.
"It's done!! The album is finished! The mixing is finished! It is done!!" Tommmy writes in a posting to his web site dated Feb. 20. "I take off for New York tomorrow morning to meet with the record label and play them the album, then it's off to Bimini for a much needed rest."
The founding REPLACEMENTS member told Billboard.com last summer that he recorded the material for the set in a Los Angeles studio owned by Charles Thompson (a.k.a. Frank Black) with contributions from A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Josh Freese, his brother Jason Freese on saxophone, CATHOLICS guitarist Dave Philips, and GNR guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed.
Stinson's site features downloadable work-in-progress clips of three songs ("Without a View", "Something's Wrong" and "Hey You"), as well as a cover of THE CLASH's "Hateful" with THE FIGGS.
GUNS N' ROSES will perform at Portugal's Rock in Rio-Lisbon festival as a main-stage headliner on May 30.
