You're missing the point. He may wish him good, but by saying that he's assuming Axl is unhappy, which he doesn't know fuck all about !!! Besides, that kind of comment reinforces the perception that Axl is some sort of a twisted lunatic, and that of course that's THE reason why the band broke up.
I just wish the former members started opposing a "no comment" to any Axl-related question in their interviews.
Then again Axl should stop insulting them on stage too
All this is all the sadder as it creates tensions between the fans, and that shouldn't be happening
