Yeah Lionel Richie and female rapper Trina guested on Rob Zombie's version of Brick House and it was actually pretty good.

A Lionel Richie interiew I read a couple years ago said that he and Axl did a vocal duet of "Ebony and Ivory". ?He said Axl also was open to Lionel's ideas for vocal technique on a couple songs including "Seven" I think. ?Lionel said that Axl thought their duet was good enough for the album, but Lionel laughed when he answered the interviewers question and said: "You know Axl, so we'll see..." ? ?This was around the same time Marco Beltrami said he orchestrated on four tracks.

A Lionel Richie interiew I read a couple years ago said that he and Axl did a vocal duet of "Ebony and Ivory".  He said Axl also was open to Lionel's ideas for vocal technique on a couple songs including "Seven" I think.  Lionel said that Axl thought their duet was good enough for the album, but Lionel laughed when he answered the interviewers question and said: "You know Axl, so we'll see..."    This was around the same time Marco Beltrami said he orchestrated on four tracks.

Excerpt of interview from Liberator magazine (US)

Interviewer - ...have you been working on any other projects?

LR - Yes, as a matter of fact, last month I did some work with none other than Axl Rose of Guns n'Roses fame which was quite (pause) interesting and stimulating

Interviewer - Tell me more.

LR - Well, Axl called me up out of the blue, as you do, said he had a couple of tracks that he wanted me to look at. So I said, yeah come round and I'll have a listen. So he came round, played these two tracks to me, and played a whole bunch of other ones which he had recorded and asked me what I thought. And there really was some great tracks there, some really great, powerful rock tracks. And some great melodies too

Interviewer - So, anything come of this

LR - Yeah, I did a whole load of things with him. I had a look at a whole load of tracks, two in particular. I think one them was called Seven, a really powerful orchestrated number He said he wanted some help with the vocals on that one. Then there was this other song, 'Down by the sea' , I think it was called. I did some experimenting on that song too. Quite a bluesy feel to that one. And, on top of that, we also recorded a cover of 'Ebony and Ivory' which Axl said he loved so much, that he was gonna put it on his new album, or so he said anyway (laughs) So yeah, there was some exciting stuff there

Interviewer - Were you suprised that he contacted you of all people?

LR - Yeah (laughs), you wouldn't normally associate my style of music with Axl's genre of music (laughs again) but Axl said he'd been a big fan of mine in the 1980's and he wanted to get that kind of feel to a couple of his songs. It's been a good experience for me too though as I have been able to explore other areas of music and expand my own musical vocabulary, so to speak, which I think.......blah blah

I never believed any of this. I'm suprised LR's website hasn't been flooded with e-mails. GNR fans can usually smoke out the truth hihi

Yea I know what you mean.  I think I would of remembered this.  Especially since in 03 we had hardly any news.  The GNR community would of gone ape-shit over this article and harassed Lionel and everyone else to try to get to the bottom of this.  The article seems so...precise. no

That a pretty good idea. ?But somehow I have the feeling we'll get the "there is no truth to this rumor" reply.

I remember there was a big rumour going around at that time (2003) that Lionel Richie had recorded a cover of "Ebony and Ivory" with Axl.

To my knowledge, this was confirmed to be a FAKE rumour. These "articles" along with a couple of others were fabricated by people who are still laughing at you TO THIS DAY for believing they are real.

Until someone comes up with an actual link to actual real information, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE.

I don't believe any of it to tell the truth. The thought of have guests on the album,or even a cover is something that doesn't sit well with me. It would be great to have this band playing all the instruments, and their material.

who here actually believes this is legit?

Read the interview people. It is so blatantly pieced together from information already on the circuit and all the questions asked are leading questions.

I hope whoever wrote this is having a chuckle.
