Since the news is that NIN will be headlining lollapalooza this summer, does that effect Robin's status at all?

no i dont think it does as NIN has always been the sole brainchild of Trent Reznor and the other members are basically hired by the record company. NIN has survived without Robin and i imagine they will again, yet maybe Robin will play if nothing is goin on in GNR land by then Undecided

When was there an announcement there would be a Lollapalooza this summer, let alone Nails headlining?

Better show some sources...

There's a rumor over at velvetrope.com that NIN will headline Lollapalooza.  Of course, I've read soooo many things that didn't come to pass over there that I still wouldn't consider that a source.   Undecided

Agreed.

The Velvet Rope isn't the most reliable "source"..

NIN doesn't even have a record coming out, do they?  Lil' help?

I think they are supposed to have an album coming out before the end of the year...I'm having to google since I'm not a big NIN fan.   Wink   Damn slow computer.... Angry

Ok.. screw it.  Look for it yourself, Falcon.  I've tried to be a nice person...lol  Here's a link and all that I saw was that Reznor is writing new material for a follow-up to 1999's The Fragile.   No release date has been scheduled.  Undecided

Robin said before his loyalty is to gnr if both gnr and nin had to tour.
Robin is in Gnr not nin.

No, I'm not an "insider", but I will say I regularly talk to someone very close to GNR. I don't get a lot of inside information, but I'm told if there's anything to be concerned about  Smiley

Thanks Sukie, looks as though Trent's in LA working with Rick Rubin.

As for a NIN tour affecting GNR, I suppose if Axl were to release CD and tour on it, Robin would more than likely want to play songs he helped create in a live setting.

On the other hand, if things remain quiet on the GNR front and Trent moves forward with a tour, I'm sure Robin would be up for it.

Hell, musicians like to play, who could blame him?

Just because Robin was once part of NIN doesn't mean he'll tour with them forever.

They've changed members before.....

well must be true then.

Depending on the staus of the new CD, I tend to think that Robin must be VERY, VERY near telling Axl to shove it as he clearly stated his frustration at Axl's tardiness way back in 99. Does anyone believe he is less pissed of nowadays.

So, the general consensus is:

Hypothetically. if Axl has no release of CD in the offing and no tour scheduled while Reznor does and would ask Robin to participate, Finck would decline Trent's offer and remain dormant with Axl and company?

No offense here guys, buts that's whacky.  Robin bolted during an inactive period before and prior actions dictate he'd do it again.  The precedent is already set.

As I stated above, if the two (NIN and Axl) were to go head to head with a tour, I have no doubt Robin would stay on board with Axl and tour on music he helped create.

I agree with you there.  You would think Robin would enjoy being in GNR more considering he atleast has a little bit of creative input in the new music.  I believe Trent pretty much does all the NIN music by himself and has a band join him for a tour.
