You GNR fans kill me!!  You treat GNR like they were the second coming of Led Zeppelin (who, btw, are the greatest rock-n-roll band - PERIOD!)  The CD kicks ass and so does the band. Saw them in NYC!

i know im gonna offend everyone for whatever reasons but i dont see the infatuation with led zepplin

slash is as good as jimmy page and axl destroys robert plant, vocally.lyrically, every possible fucking way

GNR are better than led zepplin hands down, just because led zepplin came out first they win for stupid reasons

I agreed with you post till this part. Robert Plant is an awesome singer (I prefer Axl too), and Led Zeppelin CDSA are classic. Especially IV

I don't think Axl is even in Plant's range, plant released alot more stuff than Axl.

Well, I've been listening to this CD non-stop since I was able to subvert it's copy protection (yes, I bought the CD).  It has grown on my whole bunch in the short time.

The songs which just seemed like "generic hard rock" songs have started to separate and I can appreciate the riffs in each of them.

You Got No Right is great, but I think Fall to Pieces is better, though I think I'm in the minority here.

Originally, after listening to the MTV stream of it, I gave it a 7/10, but now I'd give it an 8 or even 9/10.

Great stuff, and there is more than enough Slash.

yea LTA remided me of radiohead a little bit too.  I absolutely love the ballads on this album.  I can't decide which one i like best.  DIFTK is probably my fave rocker besides slither.  Superhuman is pretty good.  The rest seem like they are missing something.  I think the album should have been worked on a little more before it was released.

this is a great first effort from the band considering how long it took to make.  I can't wait for the next album cuz i know it will be 10 times better

Hey Jizzo, I'm surprised you don't like Illegal I, it's one of my favourite tunes on the album. The band rocks so hard on that track and Scott absolutely goes off too - listen to him screaming at the end!
It sounds like one of the heavier tunes off Jane's Addictions latest album too.

Give it a couple more listens and I'm sure you'll love it.

But then again, your fav track Big Machine is my least favourite, so each to their own I guess.

i dont know maybe im smoking crack or something but anyone else hate how they change scotts voice on some of the songs? it makes his voice unclear and hard to follow.  ex) sucker train blues....i think that it would have been better if they left scotts voice alone and made it more clear.

also i wish there was more melody on the album....im just picky

I think Fall to pieces is my favorite song on the album. It's so much better hearing it on the album! It's slower...a lot more emotion and man when Slash plays that riff...with that classic Slash gorgeous tone, man I piss my pants! I loved it when he slaps you in the face with those riffs like he does here and in Estranged and sweet child! Man I wish I had his tone when I play guitar!

Well, after following the advice of Naupis, and hearing Contraband more and more times, it really began to grow on me, so now I can say proudly that this is one of the best rock cd's of the last ten years, what am I saying? These is the best Rock and Roll CD of all time.
First let me say that Sucker Train Blues is an amazing song, amazing riffs and amazing solo, nightrain doesn't come even close.
Big Machine is one of the best tracks that I heard on my whole life, this song is what WTTJ, YCBM and OTGM aspired to be, but they couldn't.
Headspace run circles over Mr. brownstone.
And what can I tell you about the Ballads that everybody has not said.

All these songs are true masterpieces for all generations, songs written by other groups that are considered great don't come even close.
For example, how can you compare Fall to pieces to Stairway to heaven. that's no contest, FTP is thousand times better,  or all the rockers  are better than songs like: black dog, whole lotta rosie, sultans of swing, we will rock you,etc. In general are better that all the songs produced by groups like, led zeppelin, aerosmith, dirie straits, ratm, rhcp, queen, gnr, etc.

If that happens, I hope that they  re-arrange the many songs that Ax...(if I remember you guys call him...;yeah I remember)Axhole destroy on the UYI's, with all those sounds, specially his lyrics. Hopefully Scott rewrite lyrics for Coma, Locomotive, etc and finally make justice to these songs. Can you believe all the crap that AX..(yeah)Axhole wrote for coma, I know that Scott wil do better. 2) I understand youre trying desperately to be funny and clever, but aside from being neither, your sarcasm is based on an imaginary premise: That somebody (especially one of the three posters you named) even implied anything to warrant your witless hyperbole.  Read my post again, then read yours - if at this point you dont understand that youve wasted your time writing a pointless and corny post, then youve earned my condolences.

Well, booker if people are rating these songs 9-10/10, why I cannot compare it, with other rock an roll songs or groups, specially since they are so good.

Secondly if I remember correctly didn't Tyrod said that this album has no fillers(am I lying?) and how AFD and UYi has many fillers, so but that conceptualization shouldn't Contraband be better in his eyes? I think that you're losing your point book(his hyperbole is greater than mine). At least, I listen to the album and I give a honest review and I don't buy that they are delivering and the other guy not, music is music, you either like it or not.

Third of all, I'm giving it a positive review, shouldn't you be happy? . You see with all the three of you that I mentioned, I only have sympathy for Dizzy, because we have the same thought that Steven was/is/? the best drummer of GNR.

Finally, I really don't care what you think, if you liek(shut! I bought the Vinyl yestarday.

I like it all a lot. The only moments which arem't grat for me are FTP which for me was disappointing and Headspace I like so so.

Overall is 4.5 out of 5 for me.

Only now am I realizing how low my expectations were! I never thought a band could sound this good this late in their career! Usually musicians start going down hill after their 1st record or two. But these GN'R guys keep putting out gems!!!!
