Dreaming and waiting

« Reply #140 on: May 21, 2004, 11:35:38 AM »

Summary of questions;

"How are you" seems a popular and obvious first question

Others mentioned;

- Whats the last cd you've purchased
- Could Axl recommend any good books for us to read while passing time?
- Have you ever considered making a "piano album" with jazz, blues etc?
- What type of style are you trying to create with the new band and music? What influences have you drawn from and how diffiuclt is it to be original and creative?
-  What was your favorite musical experience in the past ten years (pick a concert you did or went to, an album you bought and were thrilled to listen to, etc.) -- you can pick more than one if picking just one is too difficult
- What's the thing you enjoy the most doing during the day?
- Of all contemporary singers, rock, pop, even country, who is the one you'd like to duet with?
- What's the worst hit song you've heard in the last ten years?
- What are your thoughts on having Arnold Schwarzenegger as your governor?
- If there was one famous quotation that you felt closely summed up your philosophy of life, what would it be?
- Who's your favorite comedian?
- what's your favorite city/venue to perform in, and why?
- What process do you follow when you write a song?
- Has your impression of the internet changed over the past few years or do you still consider it a garbage can?
- Are you interested in a film career?
- "Are you still interested in creating narrative-based music videos, like the UYI video trilogy?"
- What do you think is the biggest price you pay for fame?
- GNR has a huge worldwide fan base - what are some of your favorite memories from the world tours?
- What handles better the (Lambourghini) Murceilago or the (Ferrari) Spyder?
- How cool is it that Arnold Schwartzeneggar is the governor of California?
- What new music is he listening to?
-  would like to know if he goes to his bandmembers shows when they go off on their own (like Dizzy and Tommy) or if he enjoys their music.
- What is your typical day like?
- How is his guitar playing coming along
- Did you have a big bash for your 40th B-day?
- what makes you laugh?

Which ones do you think? I'll send 10 questions off in two hours or so

here are my favs
1)How are you?
2)What is your typical day like?
3)Whats the last cd you've purchased?
4)Of all contemporary singers, rock, pop, even country, who is the one you'd like to duet with?
5)Do you go to your bandmembers shows when they go off on their own mini tours(like Dizzy and Tommy) and do you enjoy their music?
6)What process do you follow when you write a song?
7)what's your favorite city/venue to perform in, and why?
8)GNR has a huge worldwide fan base - what are some of your favorite memories from the world tours?
9)Something on CD
10)what makes you laugh?

My questions (sorry if already posted)

- This last tour, you seemed much happier on stage.  Is every performance still a battle, as you have said in the past that it used to be?  Or are you in a different place now when you are on stage?

- Are there any love interests in your life?

- Tell us about your reason for the title "Chinese Democracy"

- How do you feel about your touring career?  Are you ready to do it again for many years?  Or do you see yourself settling down in the next 5-10 years?

- Would you ever consider doing a side project after the life of GNR (if it ever ends)?  By side project I mean a band under a different name.

- Has there been any resolution between you and Izzy?  Rumors have floated that the rift is closing.

- Have you listened to VR at all?  Any interest at all?  Have your feelings changed for any of the past bandmembers?

- (Already been posted but important) We heard that the Las Vegas show was to be released as a DVD but was cancelled...  Should we expect to see anything released like that?  Either from the last tour or something new with CD?

Any of these on there would be great!!!!!

I suddenly realized we could have asked if he was in that NYC hip-hop nightclub a few weeks ago with an older woman and 5 kids  hihi

This is my take on the final questions:
(Please excuse the CAPS LOCK.  I am not shouting.  It just makes my comments seperate better from the other text.)

1) How are you?
THIS IS GREAT.

2) What new music are you currently listening to and what was the last CD you bought?
3) What's the worst hit song you've heard in the last ten years?
4) Of all contemporary singers, rock, pop, even country, who is the one you'd like to duet with?
THESE COULD HAVE BEEN LUMPED TOGETHER IN ONE QUESTION / ITS ONE TOPIC.

5) What do you think of your bandmembers solo music and have you been to any of their shows?
FINE.  BUT THE ANSWER TO THE FIRST PART OF THE QUESTION IS RATHER PREDICTABLE AND THE REST WOULD BE WHAT?  YES OR NO. ALSO HE JUST MAY BE WARY TO SAY IF HE DOES ATTEND.  HAS ANYONE SEEN HIM AT ANY OF THE GIGS? HM?

6) What's the thing you enjoy the most doing during the day?
THIS COULD BE WORDED TO FIND OUT ABOUT ALL THOSE THINGS PEOPLE WERE ASKING ABOUT - IE: HIS HOBBIES, DOES HE COLLECT THINGS, HIS CARS, THE SPORTS QUESTIONS, WHAT DOES HE ENJOY READING, WHAT MOVIES HE HAS ENJOYED, COMEDIANS, ETC.

7)What are your thoughts on having Arnold Schwarzenegger as your governor?
I WOULD INCLUDE THIS AS A 'BREAK POINT' IN BETWEEN SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS...
ITS GOOD IN AN INTERVIEW TO INCLUDE SOME LIGHTHEARTED FARE TO BREAK UP THE WEIGHT OF MORE THOUGHT PROVING QUESTIONS / TOPICS.

Cool Has your impression of the internet changed over the past few years or do you still consider it a garbage can?
I DON'T LIKE THE NEGATIVE SPIN ON THIS QUESTION.  SURE WE CAN REFERENCE THE 'GARBAGE CAN' QUOTE BUT IN MY OPINION ITS ALMOST ARGUEMENTATIVE.  HOPEUFLLY HE WILL NOT BE OFFENDED AND GO ON THE DEFENSE.  THE FACT IS IT IS A GARBAGE CAN.  I LIKE THE WAY I WORDED IT BETTER. Embarrassed

HOW YOU WORD THINGS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE IMPRESSION IT MAKES AND THE RESPONSE THAT IS SOLICITED.

9) What makes you laugh?
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY?  SAME AS QUES #6  Huh
I WOULD HAVE RATHER FOUND OUT MORE ABOUT HIS TATTOOs  Cool

10) What are your wishes for the future, and do you have any information or comments you would like to share with your fans?
GREAT.

THE FIRST AND THE LAST QUESTION ARE THE BEST.  Smiley

I look forward to the replys.  I just wish Mystereon had more time to assemble the final list.

You should read the questions I originally suggested before you make a statement like that directed towards me.

And oh Mystereon, I understand about keeping it simple...  Its obvious that you kept it very simple...  and like I said I can understand why you would decide to do so.  peace

Yeah, I think they are great questions too.  The one question we all want to ask isn't there, but it'd never be answered anyway - they're still interesting questions that are of the sort we might actually get an answer to.  I would be interested to hear the answer to all of them and, in particular, what kind of music Axl listens to these days.

Thanks, Mysteron and RnT!  Smiley

Damn Mysteron, you always come thru in the clutch!
Thanks for yer inside info/connections.

Though I doubt he'll answer any of them cuz, well, he's Axl... it'd be great to see him try to make some personal contact w/ us diehard fans. And we aren't asking any annoying question he's prone to avoid.

I'm real interested to see what music he listens to now.

I think the best we'll get out of him about a release date is maybe a, "soon is the word"

I agree.  I think the chances of him answering these questions are slim to none...that's even assuming he sees these questions which is also not likely.

If he cared even a smidgeon about his fans he'd take the 10 minutes out of his life to answer these for us.  I mean these are some of the most benign questions we could ask the man.  But my guess is that he doesn't care too much about the opinion of us die-hard fans and won't bother to answer them.

-TyRod-

p.s. Wondering if Mysteron is furiously writing replies to the questions as we speak.  Smiley

Hey enough of the Mysteron bashing, too many people on this board can't resist a pop at him

He is legit. He is in contact with GNR's manager.

Have a little faith.

I personally am delighted we have had this chance to present some questions to Axl.

My Top Ten Questions for Axl:

1.  If you're in a public restroom and they're out of toilet seat covers, would you go ahead and sit directly on the seat, or just slightly squat over it?

2.  If you could keep only one of your tattoos, which one would you choose?

3.  What would you do for a Klondike bar?

4.  Do you cry every time you watch Steel Magnolias?

5.  If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you want with you?

6.  Van Gogh or Monet?

7.  What's your take on the Atkins Diet?

8.  The Science Channel...yes or no?

9.  Other than music, which career would you want to persue?

and finally....

10.  When you see MTV or VH1 on your caller ID, do you pick up the phone and say, "You must have the wrong number" ?

Thanks for your time and interest! Smiley
