So it was today, supposedely -according to some 'sources'- the deadline for any press release concerning the album, tour, or both.

Same old song and dance, till the next rumour comes around. The thing is, we would love to believe all this.

I wonder what the agreement between GNR and the record company really is.... Or if there's even some kind of 'plan' for this to develop... It all seems to be further and further away everytime, although I try to stay optimistic and stick to what Axl issued on the last Rio press release, to what Tommy said... But then it was  Axl who said in 2002 that the record would be out sometime in 2003, and so the story goes....  And so, we die-hard GNR heads get confused...
I know... you go on to read "it's time to wrap up the baby", and then your hopes are crushed along the lines of "if you're into waiting try holdin' your breath for Jesus 'cause I hear the payoff maybe be that much greater"....

I'm just so fuckin' anxious to listen to that mythic album that the disappointment of it maybe not coming out might be proportionally equal... I know I should NOT be, but I am.

Anyway, I really hope this legendary fuck-all GNR waiting game ends anytime sooner than later.

ROCK ON PPL.

Axl never said it would be released in 2003.  He actually said that "soon is not the word" or something like that.

What dead line is this?
Axl already missed the deadline last year and that is why the GHs album was released.

This is insane...............

Are people really going by Axl's little press release from the departure of Buckethead? I love how Axl saying We should hear a release date in a 'few' months, somehow translated into Wednesday June 30th at exactly 3:30 PST.
I bet there are atleast a few people here who thought that today was somekind of Guns N' Roses information day, and got their panties all wet when they heard about Howard Sterns little press conference today. I'm sure at least a few of you thought Axl would be giving the anouncement there.

how does few=3 ........ did I miss that day in class........ is 'few' somehow akin to the number pi?

How can  someone use the word few to hold Axl to a specific date?
Lets look at the dog years to people years to Axl years chart:

1 human year ~ 7 dog years (based on breed (also averaged the first year is closer to 15 years in a dog))
1 Axl year seems to equal 4 human years (but the number is always growing)

1. Few does not equal three. Read the dictionary definition. "amounting to a small number." What is a small number to Axl? Who knows? 2. Axl's March 30th press release was before the Slash/Duff lawsuit which I believe has thrown a significant wrinkle in to his plans on multiple fronts. So, again, as always with Axl, things change daily. Only one thing remains constant, no release date for Chinese-(the only truly important thing). Grin

Jarmo, 8000 posts...impressive.

is it true someone had a sign that had your name on it and axl recognized it at one of the shows from 2000 on....i read that on gnrontour.com or whatever that site is...

As for this post.....i believe i have the answer, i've been saying this for awhile now: Axl is home watching Judge Judy.

PLEASE, enough with the law suit BS- law suits don't stop you from living, coping, and accomplishing....if they r that bad, they will certainly slow you down, but not like this. Axl has lost the confidence and has obviously gotten VERY LAZY.....again, probably home watching Judge Judy on his couch, without a care in the world.

Yes, he did say that. After the 'I don't know if soon is the word' which he said in the post 2002 VMAs interview, during the mini tour they did in the autumn and winter of 2002 he stated in a radio interview something to the effect of 'the album will be out sometime during the next year.'

W 23 Axl, lawsuits certainly can hold up the release of the record! Geffen may be hesitant to go forward with the release under the Gnr name if Axl has pending litigation with Slash/Duff. If Axl left the partnership and the partnership was the party who had the contract with Geffen, then Geffen may question their capability to 1. release the record without the partnerships authorization or 2. they could even questions Axl's ability to use the name and release a record on a contract that he is no longer a party to. This thing is a royal mess and not your run of the mill lawsuit. Also, Axl could be negotiating with Geffen for a new contract for future releases after Chinese, could be negotiating an end to their relationship, any number of things. Don't be so naive. Slash can get on with his life and deal with the lawsuit at the same time because he started a new band with their own contracts. Axl is dealing with a very fucked up situation due to his insistence on using the name. Simple as that. Angry

100% agree with you!!

I bought this up a while ago, the whole partnership issue and got shot down.

I still think this is the reason the album isnt coming out. The name is everything. As soon as one person leaves a partnership that partnership ceases to exist. There is a thread on this somewhere, its probably still around!!

NEW YORK -- Howard Stern is coming back to the cities where the plug was pulled.

The shock jock announced on his radio program that Viacom's Infinity Broadcasting is putting him on new stations to replace the six where he was dropped.

Clear Channel, the nation's largest station owner, said Stern's sex-and-bathroom-laced humor makes him a liability. Stern said his current troubles started when he started criticizing the Bush administration.

Despite the announcement, which brings his affiliate list to 45, Stern refused to declare victory.

He told the news conference, "I am not beating the FCC," and added, "When the government wants you out, you are out."

Ill say this again about the partnership.
The issues that Axl is being sued for his not for the Gnr name but for the rights to the songs by Gnr.

Axl owns the name and can do what he wishs, so slash and duff cant stop him from putting CD out under that name, but slash and duff claim Axl does not have the rights to the old gnr songs from AFD, lies and the UYIs.

Dave, I'll say this again, if Geffen has a contract with the partnership and Axl leaves the partnership, then Axl may not have a right to put an album out and fulfill requirements for that original contract. As legend goes Gnr has one more album to fulfill it's Geffen contract. If that Geffen contract is with the partnership and Axl is not a party to the patnership anymore, then Axl can't release a record under that contract. Axl could be "contractless" at this point! Dumbass Geffen may have given a man 13 million to make a record when that man had no authority to make a record under the old contract. Thus, Geffen is hesitant to release said record until the issue of the "partnership" is settled. Geffen could indirectly be very involved in this lawsuit...or at least have a vested interest in it. I understand the lawsuit completely and deal with lawsuits and attorneys on a daily basis. Mark my words, Geffen is very interested in what happens to the "partnership"!
