Just to change things up here a bit...

What UYI song do you think would most "fit" in if it had been released with AFD?  I say "Back off Bitch", followed by "You Could Be Mine".

On a sidenote, it's hilarious to me that Axl considered releasing "November Rain" on AFD.  Fantastic song, but would have seen horribly out of place on that album.

Opinions?

I think "u aren't the first" would've been a cool addition, of course Shannon Hoon wouldn't of been around to take the song to a higher level, but anyway. AFD is perfect & nothing needs to be added, but I would put a contrasting song like "u aren't the first on there if i had to. Maybe between Anything Goes & Rocket Queen.[peace]

I agree with Back Off Bitch. I read some where they where thinking about putting it on "Appetite For Destruction" I also think "Perfect Crime" would have been cool on it. I think "November Rain" and "You Could Be Mine" would not have  worked good on it. You Could Be Mine help them sell Use Your Illusions not like they need the help or anything.  [hihi] Thanks for making that thread. Thats the kind of threads I like.     [ok]

I was thinking about Right Next Door To Hell but it seems it fits good on Use Your Illusion I. It's like Welcome To The Jungle it just never got as big as it.

You Could Be Mine
Pretty Tied Up (without keyboards)
Perfect Crime
Right Next Door to Hell
Shotgun Blues
Garden of Eden

I agree about "November Rain".  It fit perfectly on Use Your Illusion I.  Glad it wasn't on Appetite for Destruction.  Use Your Illusion I wouldn't have sold as well without it.

"Back Off Bitch" was performed at their early shows back in 1986.  I have it on a live bootleg from 1-18-86.  Axl said in 1992 that it was a ten-year old song.  "Don't Cry" was also on that bootleg.  But I'm glad that one didn't appear on AFD either.

Right next door to hell. It always had a pump up kind of vibe about it for me. Its hard rocking and fast. I could definently see that on AFD

I think You Could Be Mine and Back Off Bitch would have worked on AFD,they were written the same time as the AFD songs, even on Illusions you can hear that Steven Adler style on those songs.

Well the obvious is You could be mine - but i don't see any other UYI song fitting, they deserved to be on the albums they ended up on.

Garden of Eden, YCBM, RNDTHell, Perfect Crime.

i like how Axl says he re-recorded AFD with the exception of YCBM and Patience. Their's not one melow song on it (except My Michelle intro), but Patience would be cool to through into the mix ok

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago when I was blasting the UYI's in my car. I had UYI2 on and for some reason, listening to Pretty Tied Up, I could somehow picture that on AFD.

It doesn't sound obviously like an AFD style rocker, but it just has a sleazy-rock/Izzy vibe about it that makes me think, yeah it could sit alongside any of the rockers on AFD.

I agree that YCBM and Back Off Bitch could've gone on there too.

I dont know about Back Off Bitch.. I couldnt imagine those 'whoooaa.. whoa whoa whoa whoa..'s he does between versus on an AFD track.

Nor could I imagine the Perfect Crime '1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8' in a AFD track.

Right Next Door To Hell would be my pick.

I believe "Don't Cry" helped them get their record contract but it didn't suit the rest of the album so it was left off.  And you could be mine was supposed to be on it but it was not finished by the release date. Good thing to, because it helped generated interest as a 'new' G'n'R song for the "T2" movie.

For those who didn't know, if you look at the very last line of the credits in AFD it says "With your bitch slap rappin' and your cocain tongue, you get nothin' done"

But, as to the topic, why would you want to change a spotless record?!! rant

i think that 'you could be mine' would be the only one that would fit perfectly on appetite. 'back off bitch' sounds, to me, more like their other early songs like reckless life, shadow of your love etc. it would have fit well on 'live like a suicide'. i think that the only other two that would fit fairly well would be right next door to hell and don't damn me. for some reason, while i like the song, perfect crime wouldn't sound right at all. there's one riff, the main verse riff, of double talkin jive that would fit but not the song as a whole.

anyway.....great topic

it would have to be Back off Bitch.  Because on Appetite it was pretty much all just guitar rock as is most of this song.  On almost all the Illusion songs they got some other kind of shit going on that just doesnt fit Appetite.
