Here Today...

« on: December 18, 2006, 05:25:29 PM »

I just recently discovered this: A small clip of the song Bad Time.

Grand Funk Railroad "Bad Time": http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:3sbsa9rgq238

Recognise it?   Smiley

I've allways wondered where the acapella-bit Axl used to do before SCOM on the Illusion-tour, were from.

Now I know!  ok

The Jayhawks did a cover too...I have it somewhere.? Highly recommended.

The intro Axl used before SCOM used to be one of my highlights from any show from that era. That intro fit so well with Sweet Child...later in that tour, Axl would cover Elton John "The One"...not as good though.

Interesting... the beginning of the SCOM intro is from a Queen song called "Sail Away Sweet Sister"... I had always assumed the rest of it was too... but as you just pointed out it's not.

Thanks !   smoking

actually just found this:
http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Sail-Away-Sweet-Sister-lyrics-Guns-N'-Roses/DB757168EA9A743948256EA80010C6C9

it doesn't mention "Bad Time"... but now we know it's both:

Sail Away Sweet Sister Lyrics - GNR

Sail away sweet sister
Sail across the sea
Maybe you'll find somebody
That will love you half as much as me
My heart is always with you
No matter what you do
So sail away sweet sister
Cause I'll always be in love with you

But let her be somebody else's queen
I don't want to know about you
Cuz too many others know what I mean
And that's why I got to live without you

I'm in love with a girl
I'm talkin' about
I'm in love with a girl
That I can't live without
I'm in love but it feels like
I'm livin' it out
I'm in love but I must have picked a Bad Time
To be in love

Yeah, Sail away sweet sister was the first part of the intro, followed by Bad time.

''Sail Away Sweet Sister'' is in included in what I consider the best Queen album: ''The Game'', 1980.

Brian May wrote that song. Amazing, but underrated Queen song.

"The One"?? When was that and wich one is it?  Huh Post a clip if you got.... beer

Yeah, I discovered The Jayhawks' version first when I got hooked on the Rainy Day Music-album. Went back and descovered Bad Time on the Tomorrow The Green Grass-album then did som research and found out that it's originally and GFR song... But I also recommend the Jayhawks' version. It's better!  ok

PS: Check out "Rainy Day Music" by The Jayhawks. Songwriting at it's best!! (oops, sorry! I mean next best!!!)  Roll Eyes Produced by Rick Rubin.....

God, I love that intro so damn much! "Sweet Sister" into "Bad Time" is the perfect way to go into "Sweet Child". Love it!
