Back from the Romanian show...
First of all it was extremely hot!!!! It definitely took a toll on the band and the crowd, maybe even the equipment. I travelled a long way to see them again, I was obviously super exited. But the heat and humidity was so high that it was very difficult to sing along.
Axl sang 70% of the concert in the lower register. It sounded great. Not the real deal as it was in 2006/2010 but it was cool. He was in trouble when he had to sing the higher notes. He would need to use all his strength if he wanted it to sound right. Of course, that is not always possible, so at brief times, we could barely hear him...But like I said that was only for some short parts. I must say Axl gave it his aaaaalllllllllll to sound right...
The bigger problem was the sound board... I do not know for what reason. Was it because of Axl, or was it because of the scorching heat, but in the first part of the show we could barely hear the guitars... You could hear them, but it was a closed sound, as if coming from my laptop speaker.
The second part, when the sun went down, was much better.
All in all the show was very good, lasted for more than three hours and the crowd responded very well. I might just have been me, but it seems as if it missed that little bit of pixie dust to make it magical. As it was in my previous 5 gnr gigs.
Off to Budapest tomorrow to see if the magic is back
