I didn't realise Richard is from St. Louis hihi

Despite having been a fan since the 80s as a European the importance of St. Louis isn't quite the same. Yes, we have, of course, read all about it and seen the videos but still. Cool to hear how much they really need to go there and make things right.

Also, I feel a little like I've heard similar stuff about new music so many times before. Anyway, good stuff and as mentioned they don't do press this time around so at least we got this beer

I transcribed the bit about new music. Consider that English is not my first language, of course.

KSHE Interviewer: Will there ever be new music? To me the whole thing is great (..) everything come around full circle if new music was created.

Richard: We're messing with ideas every day. Every day we do at least an hour of soundcheck and we will play through different ideas, like new ideas, put stuff down on tape... Yeah.

KSHE Interviewer: That would be crazy

Richard: It's really organic and it happens... you know, same with rehearsals, we're always putting out different ideas, and getting stuff together and getting ready for that.

People saying Richard's comments are things he's said before:  It's pretty obvious that having two original, iconic, members come back into the fold, guys who were HUGE voices on previous Guns efforts, would in a way force Axl and co. to go back to the drawing board a bit in terms of how they're going to approach the next release.  It's likely what they all want, and what the the majority of fans want.  That is, for Slash and Duff to write at least SOME tracks for the next album.  This will also likely affect the older tracks too, as I would imagine Axl wants them to have a voice on the those as well.

So his comments make sense here to me.

Exactly. I don't get why people think artists behavior in patterns. It doesn't mean shit that the band didnt release anything since 2008, now we have a new dynamic. You can't just ignore that Slash and Duff rejoining (and the tour success) changes everything.

I think because one guy has final say as to what music comes out under the name GNR

We have heard about writing new music, recording new music from every current and past touring member of this band.   From DJ sending demo tapes in, to Ron saying how some finished songs where just to long to make it on CD, to Richard saying they are always writing new material on the road.

I think all of the above has happened or is happening......   It just all boils down to one guy though.

Shit who knows though.  So Axl could hear one of Slashs melodies one day and be inspired to write some lyrics for it and before you know it we have a song.    To go with the supposed rest of unreleased material

I enjoyed the interview, except for the guy harping on the whole St. Louis thing. Fuck, dude, it was 25 years ago.

Ask Richard about it once - twice at the most - and move the fuck on.

He kept at it. Half the people going to the show weren't alive at the time and the other half don't give a shit.

Those who still have a grudge - and you need to get a life if you have a 25-year-old grudge on a rock band - need to get a fucking life.

As far as his response to new music: What did you want him to say? Yeah, man, we got a new album coming out soon? Or, no, we're never going to do new music. Fuck, shit. He gave the most diplomatic answer possible.

I'm not getting my hopes up regarding his comments on new music. As another poster said, we've been here many, many times before in interviews. So much so that it would actually be refreshing if someone said "nah, we've done fuck all!" Which I suppose is what Pitman said once, and that didn't end too well!

Haha true. But I liked how he reafirms that he wrote Better chorus (even though he did not get any writing credits even on ASCAP listing).

I won't get my hopes up either. I just like to talk and speculate about new stuff. And I like to think they are always working on something new, even if nothing gets relesead yet (but that it will eventually).

Speculation is great, I agree! I really enjoyed the recent tour speculation.

Yeah, I totally agree.
However I understand if the people who got hurt that night still hates GNR.
Regarding new music, I love the speculation but I'm not sitting tight waiting for it. We know how things are with this band. Richard gave the only answer he could give. Besides it's nice to hear from him, he seems a nice guy and it really looks to me that they're all getting along - which is also great for writing new music.
