I think that ability to see things in a grander sense has only sharpened over the years. 30/40/50 years from now, or even further down the road, his behavior and actions during this era will add so much to the mystique and legend of the band.

Or maybe he's just grounded enough to not go for bullshit or instant gratification and give 100% for whatever he does decide to go for? Truly going all in according to your vision is incredibly powerful. Especially when you have the talent to accomplish a lot by yourself instead of having to heavily rely on others to carry out your vision. The first part I can relate to and the latter (talent) I envy a bit...  Cheesy

thats very hard to do! our dna always tells us to go for the instant gratification. its how we survived on this planet throughout all those more ape like phases of our existence. we are still pretty ape like though!

Honestly think human evolution has gone backwards in the past several years due to the instant gratification and influence of the internet, the attention spans have shortened to the point where some don't listen to entire albums anymore.

this is very much a problem. for me, attention is about as close to "doing" as it gets. quality and duration of attention are directly related to quality of life. our inner states have been reduced to the level of resembling televisions. this is a real crisis humanity is facing. technology will either cripple our attention, or some some miracle may occur and technology will somehow help us break through to the next level. for example, ive  heard from a psychologist here in okayama that we may be able to create dreams that people can voluntarily experience. because time and matter are so closely interwoven, the dream world allows the usual constraints of time to be bypassed. that means people could potentially experience a lifetime in a single night. but how much experience can our brains actually hold? could we potentially overload and fry them? its a possibility.

either way, it is not uncommon for even 3 year olds to play on smart phones these days. i am curious to see how their generation turns out.

and i do think cd is in a way a challenging album, it may require a certain quality of attention to fully appreciate. there is a lot going on there, and it seems it is not always its intention to simply make you feel good. some of the content is pretty serious or troubling. it does not provide the sort of instantaneous gratification that todays party music typically generates. overall it can be a pretty empowering experience though, one that i have subjected myself to more times than i could count or recollect. i am curious how many times different people have listened to it all the way through, and where i would rank on that list haha. probably not even in the top 500, but i know i wouldnt be anywhere near the bottom.

a toast to axl! i really hope he can pull something like that off again, and i think he can.

The internet has created a culture of anonymous complainers, and a mob mentality among people that say things on the internet they never would in person.

It has enabled sociopaths and psychopaths and created a whole new sociological problem that wasn't prevailant in the same areas pre-internet.

this is related, so bear with me. lately i have been pushing myself too hard. the national japanese language proficiency exam is coming up and i have been sweatin it. today i broke. i proclaimed, today i will do nothing. tomorrow as well. ran to lawson (japanese convenient store), grabbed 2 bottles of takara nishiki (pretty good shit, usually no hangover) and headed home. about to start up afd on my ps3... thank god the dvd and or ps3 is not region locked... pound this sake, and forget about everything.

i think sometimes its important to take your time. when im in a rush or stressed out, i behave in all kinds of silly ways and do things i regret. its like my head is on fire. when i take my time, get my head together, and make sure im in the right state before i act, things turn out better than if i act under pressure. under pressure i seem to be more self sabotaging. if my heads on fire, i need to put that fire out before i do other shit. i cant imagine the pressure that comes along with captaining gnr. ron said with gnr, axl is always having to put out hundreds of fires. i think it comes with the territory. but i can relate to taking your time and being your own authority in the sense that you know when you and your work are ready and not compromising.

and yeah baconman, were bums. every last one of us. but were something greater too. were bums plus tax. whatever that amounts to, im not sure.

hes hidin out and layin low. its nothin new to him.

love his new way of singing kohd. its hard to improve on a classic like that. actually it was already a remake of a classic,  so now its like they remade their remake of a classic. its triple classic.

the groove and atmposphere are so perfect. id love to see more stuff like that from modern gnr. i think kohd was the hilight of the afd dvd.
