I don't see Izzy going for a major world tour; without him, what's the point? I would love to see an Atlantic City residency (it's a 2 1/2 hr drive for me). Hopefully i'll be able to catch the next Vegas residency, looked like a great production. Til then, i'm looking forward to the DVD.
Heard about a possible Hard Rock Casino opening up in AC. Would love to see a residency on the east coast. Either at Sands Casino Bethlehem or anywhere in AC.
plans were dropped for that Hard Rock in 2012. dead horse.
Not sure how viable a residency is at either spot. Bethlehem, more so.
Then again, if these residencies are the only domestic shows they do, I suppose that encourages people to travel to see them.
honestly Bethlehem doesn't make sense either. there really isn't much to do. Philly is a nice drive away, same is NYC.
Vegas is the perfect spot - really.
NYC would be cool spot for a residency. problem would be the dates.

oops. I should have looked that up, but someone just mentioned to me today that they thought they read something about it and they live in AC. Casinos are a risky business. Even the guy who opened Sands Bethlehem said he regretted it a few years ago. I think it's doing a lot better now that they are getting bigger name concerts that are selling out pretty fast.
OK instead of a residency I could see doing 2-4 shows in certain areas like they did certain times back in 1990's. If I was in Vegas my plan would be to hang out in line a few hours before the show, go to the show, stay up until 5-6am and then sleep half the day, late lunch, and get back in line, repeat. I doubt there would be much time for finding other things to do but that is just me!

best part of vegas was if you don't need a seat and didn't want the rail (front row), you could walk in ten minutes before GNR and get about 6 -10 rows back.....better yet hang out a few more back and there was a waitress that went around taking drink orders

Thats how I like it. A glass (not a papercup) of beer and stuff. A festival is like a feelgood consentration-camp in comparsion

Not many venues would allow glass containers. Including festivals.

Atlantic City is dying.
Revel just filed for their second bankruptcy in 26 months of operation. And the employees got letters saying if a buyer can't be found by August 18th (and it won't0 they are shutting down. They tried to go high end with no buffet, no rewards cards, no smoking, no nothing. As a result, no guests either.
A.C. lost their exclusive hold on gambling around here. We have a casino here in Philly now, and Delaware allows sports betting. It killed A.C.

Its really never going to go away.
They still ask Robert Plant all the time too. And he's been just about as clear as Axl that it ain't happening.

And we have a casino near Harrisburg so not as many people are taking bus trips to AC. I have gone on a few but it's been years. Also spent New Years Eve there once and it seemed like no one noticed or even cared. At midnight I went out on the deserted boardwalk and a lone boat fired a few rockets into the air!
Anyway..I forgot about the article. It's funny even for Blabbermouth to copy that article but they are in the same business as Robin Leach(original author). Take one line and form a dozen new articles. Almost wrote "news article" but "new article" make better sense.

I think Foxwoods and Mohegan up in my neck of the woods helped usher in the demise, too. Most of the NYC crowd looking for casino action are now coming up this way....
I would LOVE to see them set up show at one of those places..but it will never happen. A better bet would be another theater "residency" in NYC, where they do multiple shows at different spots around the city.

Absolutely. The Foxwoods and Mohegan are beautiful up there, and the fact that you are far less likely to get shot up there is a huge plus.
In all seriousness though, Atlantic City does have some nice casinos and now with that outlet mall there are a few nice places to shop. It is far better now than it was 20 years ago. That being said AC is still a really dangerous city, and now that they are no longer the only game in town what is the appeal in going there? That Revel casino was out of their mind from the get go. For the prices they charge to stay there you could actually go on a real vacation somewhere.

Revel just had the total wrong business model. I don't know what the hell they were thinking.
Everyone I know would go check it out...then go back to their room, somewhere else. Most don't even gamble there.

Las Vegas works because it's a holiday destination. People go there to gamble (duh!), to shop, the have their own the Hangover experience and so on. Then once they're there they realize there's a show they wanna see... It's a convenient place to spend money....
If you did this somewhere else, you might lose some of the benefits. You can't stay next to the venue if you have a residency in a regular venue. Or the place itself isn't attractive enough.

are the attendances in for week 3 yet..shoes 7, 8 and 9. I heard they were all sold out. I have always wondered if this residency model could be applied to other countries. eg. London, Tokyo, Rio, Sydney etc.

Jarmo is so right. There were so many Hangover wannabee guys all over Vegas. Only met one who even vaguely resembled Bradley Cooper, actually he looked more like Mark Wahlburg! ONe of the great joys of the Vegas residencies is hanging out with fellow gunners from all around the world in the casino. Unless you are deathly allergic to cigarette smoke, start choking and don't realize that you are having a potentially life threatening bronchospasm.

A residency could work in a Atlantic City though. Although the House of Blues is closing with the Showboat. Borgata could hand a residency or Caesars AC.
GNR has good success in New Jersey too. From 11/2011 to 2/2012 there were three Jersey shows...

Yep and I went to one of those Jersey shows.
AC is gone. Even though I live in NJ, I haven't been to AC since 2010.
