For one, I wouldn't have even been there if he didn't pay for my flight and hotel. He has also laid out countless thousands in drinks and whatever since I have known him.
I am big believer in karma.
Since I decided to do this many, many positives have happened to me in my life.
I'm not really sure how I can express it, but I just know that it is meant to be with him.
I hope many more positive things continue for you for being such a great mate like this. Did your friend know you were doing all of this for him? I am guessing he at least knew you were trying to get a microphone.
