Arnold? Who's Arnold?

« on: November 16, 2012, 02:44:57 PM »

Finally some decent press which actually seems to reflect the show people see

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2012/11/15/guns-n-roses-las-vegas-concert/1707037/

USA today amongst quite a few others are finally reporting what fans have known for years.
GNR live are fucking INCREDIBLE.

I saw the original line up and at Milton Keynes bowl in 1993 it was amazing.

However, I have seen the new line up twice in London.

Both times I was totally blown away by the bands intensity and though the charm of the original line up was in the tight-but-loose Stonesy chemistry between the players the new line up are musically far more adept.

The second time  saw them I went with a guy who was sceptical about the new band and Axl's vocal ability.
Then... in Rocket Queen the band are tighter and more intense than he imagined possible and Axl hits the "NO ONE NEEDS THE SORROW" line NOTE. PERFECT. FULL POWER. LIVE.
The sceptical guy just LOOKED at me.. A look that said "my god.. he's back!"
In fact, he never went away.

After years of Axl getting shit in the press because
A- He pissed them off in the 80's/ 90's or
B- He refuses to give interviews so they get to make up any old shit

Its about time that the "he's over the hill"/ "where is Slash" brigade shut the fuck up.

The man is the greatest living front man in the legacy akin to Freddie Mercury in terms of vocal range and stage presence.

We've always known that the band is solid and that Axl is a living legend.

Its about fucking time that instead of reviewing the show in their prejudiced heads the media are FINALLY reviewing the greatest rock band in existence for what they are:

Immense.

Glad they (and Axl) are getting the recognition they rightfully deserve. I have not seen them live and in person but I have seen them... Lips Sealed and from what I've seen they are incredible. If what I've seen is that good I can only imagine what an in-person experience must be like. *sigh*

It's not like this is the first positive review or article we have seen...

But the whole world is not going to get too excited about a band that doesn't produce new music the drummer and two lead guitars have produced zero material for guns n roses

They are a spectacular live act ... That's all at this point..but until there is new music to evaluate ... I think the world outside the gnr community will always be skeptical and rightfully so

I disagree. A lot of people I know aren't only about bands that put out new music.
Being a kick ass live act and not releasing new music is better than vice versa. And Guns isn't following that "release new music" idea anyway. They'll put out new music when they feel comfortable. Until then: enjoy the shows.

And btw if you are referring to Ron Thal and DJ Ashba with not having produced material for GN'R, better read the liner notes on the last release!

You'll find one of the two names Wink
And the drummer anyway Wink

This.

I don't see how anyone can write a negative review about the greatest band in the world!

It is all about the 'and at' sentence.

People learning English overseas are not exposed to 'and at' sentences.  ok

I understand Milton Keynes was a great concert though. I missed it due to work unfortunately.

I see... well I suppose I should retract the Bell-end statement then... ok ok

I retract the statement I made towards the right honourable gentleman vis-a-vis his bell-endery

I was a teenager up near(is) the front doing my best not to get squished to death..
saw them in the 29th so no Ronnie Wood but Izzy was briefly back..
Great gig.
