Guns N' Roses Duff McKagan 2 realize dream and work with Prince

On Monday of this week me and my brother attended a book signing with Duff Mckagan from Guns N Roses @ Wh Smith in Glasgow, Scotland..it was the release day for Duffs new autobiography in the u.k, he also happend to be playing The Garage music venue with his band, Loaded that evening..as many of u will know Duff Mckagan idolizes Prince and cites him as one of his biggest musical influences, claiming in a recent blog for seattleweekly.com that Prince gave him the confidence to move 2 l.a at the age of 19 to attempt to realise his dreams...

Duff arrived and was instantly afable with the assembled crowd, he started by asking everyone if they had any questions for him..after a few questions from others i asked loudly, "whats your favourite Prince album Duff?" when i asked this i was acutley aware of a slight rumbling of disaproval from the waiting fans behind me down the line..a murmer incredulity..as if i was asking Justin Beiber what his favourite Slayer song was?? clearly a few cats didnt know how big a Prince fan the bold Duff is...He replied by saying the first 7 albums, he said they albums are like "desert island discs 2 him"..i asked if he was still hoping 2 b able to play with Prince on a song and he said, "yes and i mite be one step closer 2 that, a friend of mine has asked me on behalf of Prince if id like 2 play on a track" he then said, "but maybe i shouldnt say 2 much about that"..he also cited Prince along with Larry Graham as his favourite bass player, he mentioned the Controversy and Dirty Mind albums as favourites 4 bass lines.....

Anyone who thought my question was a bit daft would have been instantly put straight as they read the book, where it doesnt take more than one page before our funked up brother is mentioned, one chapter in and a full page is basicaly devoted to explaining to the reader the importance of Prince to the young Duff...

peace n love..wee jimmy

That's cool that Duff likes Larry Graham.  I used to read about him in Bass Player magazines.  I should check out more of his stuff, even though it is kind of funky.   Not a big Prince fan, but I think it's cool that he plays bass and lots of other instruments.

I'd probably say Let's Go Crazy is my favorite.  I do have Purple Rain on DVD.  Morris Day and The Time!
