Slash Teams Up With Dora The Explorer

05 March 2010

Former GUNS N? ROSES rocker SLASH is showing his softer side by teaming up with Nickelodeon to design a DORA THE EXPLORER backpack for charity.

The Velvet Revolver star has been hired by bosses at the children's TV company to help launch a series of limited edition celebrity-designed bag, which will go up for auction this summer (10) to raise money for the Children's Defense Fund.

Slash will put his own personal touches to the design, which features popular cartoon character Dora the Explorer, while Shakira and Salma Hayek will also contribute to the project.

Limited numbers of the backpacks will be put up for sale in countries across the world including the U.S., Britain, Canada, France and Spain, and money raised from the auction will benefit childhood education programs in each respective country, according to Blabbermouth.net.

I've gotta admit. This made me laugh... I really can't see the crossover between Slash fans and Dora The Explorer fans at all.
But hey... it's for charity.

EDIT: and he does have 2 kids now who I'm sure watch f'n dora dvd's hahah god damn children tv!
It's an odd project but def' for a good cause at least he isn't just doing this and putting 'em in walmart for nothing! He seems to be really into the whole charity deal!

Slash is a really talented artist and does illustration work sometimes, I guess thats got something to do with it. Wasnt he supposed to be illustrating an entire comic novel, did it ever happen?

Initially it does seem a bit odd.  BUT, as people have mentioned, he's into art, he has kids of his own, and lots of his fans who idolized him growing up have kids now too.  So now they can take some pride in buying a Dora the Explorer backpack designed by Slash.

Now if he was playing guitar with Dora while she sang "Locomotive", then I might have a problem.  hihi

I think the artistic side of Slash definately runs in the family, I have heard his brother Ash is a artist, his dad designed album covers, and his mother a celeb seamstress.  It is nice he is making use of his other talents to raise money for this cause even if it doesn't seem fitting yes.

You guys totally missed the point.

He's gonna try and hit those ladies.  Hell, I would design a Twilight and Hello Kitty backpack for a chance at those asses.
Humm never thought about that point!
