John Lennon's solo work
«

Any fans of Lennon's solo work here? I think his debut
Plastic Ono Band
is one of the rawest, most heart-felt, brutal albums ever.
Imagine
is also great and I'm a huge fan on
Mind Games
and
Walls and Bridges
.
Double Fantasy
was great too--the only one I don't care for is
Sometime in New York City
.
I thought some of his best songs were written in the 70s and in 1980.

"Be my Baby" from the boxset?
The title track "Mind Games" is amazing.

Double Fantasy, that's my favorite.
McCartney's solo stuff is good, but it just doesn't have the same zip that Lennon's stuff has.

I like those as well. 'God' is one of my favorites too.
Along with his music, I'm really inspired by how he loved Yoko. Their relationship was beautiful.

I love Lennon, a real genius. His work post Beatle is great as well. In my opinion he was the most successful "ex Beatle".
I have heard most of his work and my favorite record are Imagine and Double Fantasy. I really love songs such as God, Mother, Woman, How do you sleep and specially How? & Starting over.
The only thing I don't like of his latest career was (although is not big deal) ...I think he kind of abused in the concept of "Love" and "Peace", I don't like when artist insist with a concept to create his music, but, I know that made Jonn came up with a lot of big songs anyway...
On the other hand, his role as pacific activist was very admirable as well as his auntentic love with his couple ( who had nothing of the typical beauty we used to look for...)
In conclusion Lennon was a excelente singer ang songwritter, a great artist no doubt and apparentely a good human being.

Lady GaGa covered Imagine at the Human Rights Committee Dinner last Saturday and it was a top notch cover in my view. Yoko Ono even approved. Check out my lady love's version (she did improvise lyrics and switch things around) below:

As for me being a lennon fan, eh not so much. I respect his contribution, imagination, inspiration and effect in the music world though.
