The songs on Death Magnetic are cool enough, but the production is simply attrocious.

Eric Valentine redeems himself from the above bands with the fact that he also co-produced Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Another change in personnel came with the arrival of producer Eric Valentine, who had previously worked on a pair of Dwarves albums with Oliveri. Valentine was actually a requirement by Interscope and didn't do his job according to Homme, who commented that "[Valentine] just recorded it actually, it says production, he was only there to record the beginning of it."

Producer    Josh Homme, Adam Kasper, Eric Valentine

Hmm interesting. Hopefully he takes that approach with slash. Cos' despite why you guys are saying producer's can and often do have a BIG, MASSIVE role in determining songs and the music itself, so a shitty producer can = shitty music; unless the musician takes the reins

death magnetic is a great album, sometimes metallica`s fans are very bitchy aboput a lot of things but the band is very bitchy too about some things.

i expected someone better than this guy to produce the album like bob rock or bob ezrin, so they can take all the good stuff from slash. sometimes the producer take the better of the player and well we know how the bandas he produce play.

but i think its goin to be a great album and if  its ok then this guy will get a lot of work in his agenda.
