So there has been a longstanding argument between my friend and I about what Axl is truely saying on one of these songs. On GNR's Live Era, Disc 1, between "Mr. Brownstone" and "It's So Easy," Axl tells the crowd to move back away from the stage and after that he says something that I could never definitely decipher right before they launch into "It's So Easy."
I think that Axl says "Hit It", trying to tell the band his announcement is done and the band should start playing. However, my friend thinks that Axl is saying "Idiot", possibly to a certain audience member or to the crowd in general for being so rowdy close to the stage.
Either way, here is the link to "It's So Easy" from the Live Era CD and hopefully someone can tell me for sure what he says (He should say it within the first 2 seconds)

dude.

It's "Hit it!".

And it's fucking awesome too. I just want to take the opportunity to say that I have heard quite a few "live" shows and seen a couple too...and I dig them.

What I don't get is people's criticism of Live Era. That album is sweet. That is all.

Thank you. I've always thought that was very clear but to each his own I guess.
Thanks for the help. And I completely agree with SirTed that this is a great live album and i feel this lead in into the song just makes "It's So Easy" even better.

Kenny? He's clearly saying "Hit it" as in the band can start playing again.

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.

I remember my brother and I debating this when the album first came out. We had some good laughs. Grin I always thought it was not anyone saying anything but a noise made on the guitar by Slash. But my brother has always said that it was Axl actually saying, "Hit it!"
