I can't believe there won't be a tour or at least something announced by the beginning of the year.  That just doesn't make sense.

I know, but neither does anything else.  I predict no tour.  Especially if Album sales continue to fall.

that could quickly be reversed though if a music video/some form of huge promotion kicks off

What band promotes an album in reverse order like that?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh??  Oh I forgot, this is GNR....

At the end of the day... I expect that Axl/GN'R will want to make some kind of gesture/gift towards all the fans that shelled out for the album overseas (bummer since I'm American). I think we'll see some summer 2009 European festival dates- and who knows- maybe some shows in South America relatively soon (while it's still summer down there).

North America? No clue. Maybe some more warm-up gigs in New York (i.e. Hammerstein) and San Francisco (i.e. Warfield) and a show or two in Toronto (where they've always done well). I don't know if we're gonna see Uncle Axl hittin' the road in middle America playing in front of 6,000 again though...

We'll see.

That would be cool ! maybe on this tour they will unveil new future songs ? !

HAHA... we'll all be following the gig updates on line... "'Prostitute'? Again!??! Fuck!! Come on Axl... let's hear 'Checkmate'!!! Enough with the old stuff!!" hihi Tongue

something I saw over at newgnr.com:

I heard on 93.3(after they played Chinese Democracy) say on my way home today that they have heard reports that Axl does have a tour planed for early next year but is searching for a guitar player because Robin will not returning. So some good news and bad news....

Take it with a grain of salt...or a big salt lick, but thought I'd share.

Interesting. IF true- Robin's a hard guy to replace (such a unique player/performer). Maybe someone like John-5 who's got a bit of Robin's late 90's goth/rock vibe? I don't think he's all that busy with Rob Zombie at the moment.

That's the most believable of all scenarios I've heard, at least the part about searching for a replacement for Robin.  A lot of people are up in arms and running around like chickens with their heads cut off claiming that the sky is falling.  We simply don't know enough to be upset about anything at this point.  The Hammerstein shows and 2006 revival kind of popped up on us out of nowhere, it's entirely possible that sort of thing could happen again.  In 2004 Buckethead left and it took until a couple weeks before the Hammerstein shows until they found a suitable replacement.  Hopefully it doesn't take THAT long with Robin, but assuming he's out, it's entirely possible Axl isn't just sitting on his ass doing nothing.  The reason for the lack of promotion could just be that he hasn't found that special someone to replace Robin at this point.  Once that happens (hopefully soon), things could get rolling.

That's my local station, too. They play GN'R quite a bit (in fact, they played Scraped a couple hours ago). I partnered with them to give away 25 copies of Chinese Democracy, and they were also giving away 12-packs of Dr Pepper with the album (I think they're still giving away a few copies through their online contest). Not that that lends proof to their rumor, but they do appear to be fans of the band at least.
