Here Since January 11th 2002

« on: November 01, 2006, 11:32:48 PM »

I have to say after seeing Guns N' Roses twice , the Eagles twice, and now Death Cab for Cutie twice they are an amazing band live. (note I've seen alot more concerts then these three bands)

So they played at Massey Hall which is an amazing gig in Toronto similar to the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC.

Changed up setlist didnt play the same set like they did earlier when they came to the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, changed the songs order and well probably put on the best encores I have ever seen.

Since it was Halloween yesterday I was expecting the band to dress up and come encore time they did.

For the encores they did Whip It by Devo , two other Devo songs that I knew but dont know the names and the last one being Uncontrolable Urge. Then two Death Cab Songs one being the Sound of Settling.

But an amazing gig, if any fans on this board I suggest you see them live, put on a really good show, and a Halloween Show like it is suppose to be done.

No, they are very original, very talented and good too. Probably the band that should be big, but isn't. Maybe a cross between Oasis's Beatles sound and Barenaked Ladies.  I'd rather see GnR tour with a band like them or My Morning Jacket than Papa Roach & Sebastians Back Sad.

No disrespect but i absolutly hate labels.. like what makes some emo besides the way they dress or listen to music... unless you are using it in the proper way as in.. Emo meaning Emotional rock... some people think it means kids liking to kill themselves... very untrue ... Sorry about the rant just had to get it off my chest... but on? topic... i dont mind Death cab ... there ok

These guys have been one of my favorite bands for a long time, but lately I simply can't get enough of them drool

While browsing Wiki' the other day, it would appear that we have a new album to look forward to this May beer

Quote
According to a recent blog posting on the Hall Of Justice website, Chris Walla claims that Death Cab For Cutie's new album is "in full swing; we're six songs in."

The posting went on to say "thus far it's pretty weird and pretty spectacular; lots of blood. It's creepy and heavy... we've got a ten minute long Can jam, and had you suggested that possibility to me in 1998, I'd have eaten your puppy's brain with a spoon."

It is planned to be released in May 2008. Ben Gibbard, lead singer and guitarist, claims that "I just don't feel like we really have anything to prove of it other than to ourselves and to making a record we really enjoy."

In a recent Billboard piece, the band is promising a "curve ball" and though it will have a number of slower songs, the band is promising some surprises:

"It's really weird. It's really, really good, I think, but it's totally a curve ball, and I think it's gonna be a really polarizing record. But I'm really excited about it. It's really got some teeth. The landscape of the thing is way, way more lunar than the urban meadow sort of thing that has been happening for the last couple of records."

"[It's also] louder and more dissonant and ... I think abrasive would be a good word to use. [We were influenced by] heavy, sludgy, slow metal [and] synth-punk band Brainiac."

In January of 2008, Spin Magazine reported that Death Cab For Cutie's new album will be titled "Narrow Stairs."

I seem to remember there was another thread about them that I posted in a couple of years ago, but this was the first one I found, so.

just home from seeing them live here in Brussels, and I tellya, I think it's the best concert I have seen!
I have seen Cr?e and VR, among many others, but these guys were really something else!

my girlfriend have seen GN'R and RHCP live, and she also says this is the best one she's seen!
I wanna see them again and again and again and again.
was right up by the stage next to Chris Walla, this guy is one amazing musician!
the bassist was centre stage and was rocking like there was absolutely no tomorrow. the drummer was amazing and it was a LOT more bombastic than I would have thought.
Ben was on fire as well and was bopping around the stage and singing perfectly the whole concert.
he was a bit too low in the mix on occasions, but that's absolutely not his fault.

=

see them if you have the chance!!!!

Never checked them out before.

Musically it was cool, and as the song was building up, i was excited.

But then came his rather bland vocals. Which spoilt it for me, cant get into those vocals at all!
