TSI was a 'good' album...some of the songs were really well done, in the style of GnR...but to date I still do not own a copy. I am convinced the label forced that album...all covers? Really? Maybe I am in denial...

I love that album, kick major asses in my opinion. Loves the versions of Ain't It Fun, Human Being n' Buick Mackane/Big Dumb Sex for example... also Duff songs. I would love to hear the versions of Hanoi Rocks "Beer and a cigarette" n' Stooges "I wanna be your dog" that they teake out of the album... maybe in a future edition as bonus tracks ?

If Chinese Democracy comes out on November 23rd (sunday), it will be exactly 15 years since the release of The Spaghetti incident.
That'S pretty cool I think no?

Yeah, it's kinda cool, but did anyone think back then in 1993 when it came out that the next album to follow would come out 15 years later with a completely different band aside from Axl and Dizzy?
I know I wasn't expecting that.

HAHA... no kidding. It's probably a very good thing that most of us didn't realize that at the time.... some of us "might not be here" right now... so to speak. I'm sure as a 17 year-old fanatic at the time... I probably would have jumped off a bridge.
In all seriousness... it's an extremely underrated album by fans (most critics actually gave it a pretty fair shake actually if I remember correctly- they thought it was a good thing that GN'R was getting back to its roots after the "bloated" UYI albums). "Black Leather", "Aint It Fun", "Hair of the Dog", "Down on the Farm" and "Human Being" all kick major ass. I also must confess liking "Look at Your Game Girl" quite a bit too.

I've always liked many of the covers, but for me it doesn't work as an album. I suspect I could count the number of times I've listened to it in full without skipping on one hand. A hand with two fingers missing.

I didn't really get it when I first bought it in 99 or so but over the years I love it and can put it in rotation with any of my other GNR albums easily.

I love this album. The Stooges and New York Dolls made some of my all time favorite music, so to hear my favorite band cover them? Amazing! Human Being is the standout track for me. Axl nails it, and it's interesting to hear what the Dolls sound like with Slash on the axe. If you gave me a choice back in 93 what I'd rather hear for their next album, Spaghetti Incident II with the same lineup, or original material(Chinese Democracy) with Axl and a bunch of hired guns? Hmmm...

TSI gets a bad rap. I saw this in HMV recently in the UK for ?4 and I taught that was an absolute bargain. I mean, its GNR, and the cover songs are songs you are (for the most part) unlikely to ever hear the originals of unless you sought them out. As Axl himself said at the time most of these tracks were out of print and out of mind so they were really highlighting music that had been forgotten.
Its a good album and deserves the odd listen to, especially for Ain't It Fun and Since I Don't Have You, shame they never got to play either of those live

I know I wasn't expecting that.
Neither was I.
Then again, by that point they'd been together eight years and had already replaced the drummer (Steven) and the rhythm guitarist (Izzy), so Slash and Duff being gone fifteen years later is hardly a shocker.

I think given the circumstances Im most suprised Dizzy is still here after all this time

Yeah. I remember reading that Axl was trying to get Dizzy to join the band as early as 1986... and dedicated Nightrain to him at one of their shows.
Axl and Izzy were friends for 14 Years (cue the song) when Izzy quit the band, but Axl and Dizzy have been friends for over 20 now.

The Spaghetti Incident was mentioned on the Howard Stern Show today. It sort of came out of nowhere, at least I wasn't expecting it, although looking back on it, it made perfect sense. They were talking about a NY divorce lawyer who is a friend of the show, and regular caller. He recently had an altercation with his wife, and apparently she broke a plate of spaghetti over his head. Howard mentioned, the Guns N' Roses album entitled The Spaghetti Incident. He said, at the time he thought it was a stupid title for an album, but now it makes perfect sense. I thought it was a pretty clever remark by Howard. As big a fan of GNR as I am, I didn't make the connection before he did.

Wow, what effort, I suppose Axl always wanted an electronic influence

True, but Izzy and Axl still speak at least, hence 2006
