I wonder what the worldwide number would be?

Blabbermouth's news story tells that "The LP has reportedly accumulated worldwide sales in excess of 28 million."  Huh

Some GNR tv-document said 35 million.

I was surprised to see ONLY 18 million, as (thought) I had read somewhere the total sales was like 50 mil...so this would make sense.

That's close, right?  Anything over 10, I lose count... hihi  I do find it surprising that the US grabbed up more than 60% of sales, considering the worldwide appeal of Gn'R.

GN'R's global appeal didn't really kick in until after the Illusions were released (90s).

Yes, but most Boston fans are certified AARP members now...last release sold like shiesse.  I think it would be a safe bet that the 'breakout album' is now around 17,000,420.  The 420 being geriatric stoners who's record players/8-tracks finally broke. smoking

Just to be fair, I am a fan of Boston.

Nice of you to put "most" in there, prolly just saved your young ass lol Grin. Still I grew up with record players and 8-tracks, I retired them when I retired my Boston albums Tongue. On topic though... I am over being surprised at Appetites sales, the album has been and still remains a legacy in itself. Wink  Just to be fair, I don't care for Boston as much anymore. Sad Congrats are still in order for the band, no doubt!!

I'm a fan of Boston too, and I'm 20.

You don't suppose a lot of copies sold after Delp died?

Youz crazy!  5 years and 420 copies.

I *almost* cracked a smile there.

That was my intent (there is no sarcastic emoticon)...Boston is a great band...and a great city.  Seriously now...I am SHOCKED that they are in the same league as Gn'R, and must assume it is probably only due to the fact that they had a 11 (was it '76? I was in diapers) year head start...before the age of recordable cassettes + high speed dubbing, and then CD's/computers. ok

Yes, it is very impressive that AFD is beating out older albums in terms of sales.

Brother - they are kicking ASS...Boston had 11 more years, in the age of the Album.

How does Lies stack up against everyone, and sophomore releases?  Where is UYI on the list?

At last count, LIES went platinum 5x and both UYI's were at around 7 and a half million.

If they can get any of the UYI's (or even CD) to go 10x platinum, they'll only be the 7th band in history to have two diamond records.

YUP! It's a quintessential rock album. There hasn't been an album like that since then... raw, unforgiving and just plain bad-ass. Sure there's been plenty of great albums... but only one AFD.

I want CD to come and kick everyone in the ass. If it doesn't debut #1 it would be the biggest upset in the history of music.
