Im sure i read this somewhere, coming from the mouth of Slash or a member of the Stone Roses.

Any confirmations?

i reckon it would of been really cool if Slash had worked with those guys.

I think John Squire broke his arm when they had festival dates to fulfill when they released their second album... I think Slash said in the music press that he would love to fill in. If I remember rightly - think that was about 1996 maybe???

when squire left they wanted to make a huge point about replacing him, and there were 2 people who they wanted, Slash and a woman whose name i forget.

the reasoning behind it was (there words not mine) they had to either get the best rock guitarist on the plant or a woman as a way of taking the piss out of squire.

Just had a snoop around t'internet and it was when Squire broke his collarbone in a bicycle accident and they had to cancel their gig at Glastonbury.
