I know there's a lot of people who don't like Howard Stern.  Think he's vile, filthy, disgusting, fill in adjective.  I honestly believe those people though have never given him a fair shake.  If you actually took the time to listen to the show you'd realize there's a lot more to him than dick and fart jokes.  But people listen for 5 minutes and don't like what they hear or they just form their opinions based on what they hear from others.  Anyway, enough of the intro.

This story really pisses me off, being a loyal Howard Stern fan.  He gets such a bad rep.  Last week, they had a contest for "Ugliest Guy, Hottest Wife".  The girls got into bikinis, you know what girls wear to the beach?  And they talked about, god forbid, SEX.  So the girl who won ends up being forced to resign from her 2nd grade teaching job.  If Oprah Winfrey had a "Beautiful Women Married to Less Attractive Men" contest and discussed similar topics, she'd be getting praised by the schoolboard.  They'd throw her a damn parade.  But just because it was Howard Stern.  It's ridiculous, he's on Sirius, which is a paid subscription service.  No second grader was going to hear their teacher on the show, but now they ALL have to be explained as to why they have a new teacher.  To top it off, the husband, who's an engineer got a (pardon the pun) stern talking to from his employer for being on the show.  He's an f'ing engineer.  Is that really gonna damage his or the company's repuation?  Some people are righteous assholes.

On a side note, the next contest they're running on the Stern show is "Hottest Chick with the Ugliest Scar".  So if you know anyone who fits that description, there's a $5000 prize.

The E! Show was the best. Cry

The couple shouldn't have told anyone they were on the show. No matter how wrong it is that they got in trouble, you have to know its not going to end up very well.

I think hes just tired.  He was brilliant in his prime though (late 80s, early 90s).

I think hes just tired.  He was brilliant in his prime though (late 80s, early 90s).
I think the show is better than ever, unfortunately only those who PAY to listen get to enjoy it.  Of course I didn't start listening until 2001, so I can't really comment on the late 80's and 90's except for what I saw on the E show and have heard on the replays they play when the crew takes days off.  They play a lot of shows from the old days on Fridays (the show takes Fridays off now), and I can't get into them.  It's really a different show than it used to be.  It's evolved over the years, and some people prefer the old shows, some the new.  So I don't think he's tired by any means, the show has just changed, and apparently not to your liking.  And that's fine, you can't please everyone.

As for the couple, the woman didn't announce what school she taught at on the show.  She simply said she was a teacher and was going to use the contest money to help pay for her masters.  The guy said specifically what company he worked for, so I guess inquisitive minds went to work with that and they put the pieces together.  Seriously though, she did nothing wrong.  I presume some parent or a co-worker must've heard the show and was outraged that the teacher was on such a show.  Well, how dare that parent/co-worker listens to such a show, if that is the case.  Again, if this couple were on the Oprah Winfrey show they'd be throwing them a goddamn parade.  They had news reports and articles written about attractive women dating/marrying "less attractive" men a few weeks back that even cited Howard Stern and his model fiance as such a couple, so it certainly could've been a topic of discussion on Oprah.  Some people can get away with things because they're perceived as good people.  Howard Stern is not in that class, and that's unfortunate for this poor woman who did absolutely nothing wrong.  In fact, if the schoolboard actually listened to her whole appearance on the show they'd be hard pressed to pinpoint any wrongdoing.  God forbid, a couple stays faithful to each other in this day and age.  Both, admitted that they had only had 1 sexual partner in their lives (each other obviously).  She claimed that he treated her like a princess and while she didn't like him at first he eventually won her over and she fell in love with him.  What terrible things to say, how dare she!  I can see how the kids could be scarred being taught by such a sadistic, sick minded, terrible person.

A little update on this story that may take some steam out of my initial rant.

The Howard 100 News team reported this morning that the teacher who appeared on the show and was "forced" to resign had called in sick the day of her appearance and when it was found out that that's what she did on her sick day, that was the reason for being pushed out.

That's a little better explanation.  Obviously a dumb move on her part to call in sick and then appear on a national radio show.  Apparently she thought nobody had Sirius or listened to Stern anymore.  I agree, that's a bad thing to do and deserves reprimanding, but is it really a reason to force someone out of a job?  Who hasn't called in "sick" to work when they really weren't?  Of course, most people aren't dumb enough to get caught that easily, but still.  Seems like an easy fallback for the school board to save face.
