Fla. Teens Believe Drinking Bleach Will Prevent HIV

Some Teens Also Believe Mountain Dew Will Stop Pregnancy

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Florida teens who believe drinking a cap of bleach will prevent HIV and a shot of Mountain Dew will stop pregnancy have prompted lawmakers to push for an overhaul of sex education in the state.

Another myth is that Florida teens also believe that smoking marijuana will prevent a person from getting pregnant, Local 6 reported.

State lawmakers said the myths are spreading because of Florida's abstinence-only sex education, Local 6 reported.

They are proposing a bill that would require a more comprehensive approach, the report said.

It would still require teaching abstinence but students would also learn about condoms and other methods of birth control and disease prevention.

The bill just passed its first vote in a committee, Local 6 reported.

The bad news first.  HIV rates in Florida's teens will rise.
The good news?  Their bowel movements will be remarkably clean!

Now, as Guns N' Roses fans, I believe it's our responsibility to teach these kids that Mountain Dew does not stop pregnancies...Dr. Pepper does!  Let's give Dr. Pepper more market share dammit!  They deserve it for supporting Guns.  yes

The sad irony here is that the same morons who favor "abstinence-only" sex education are usually the same assholes who bitch about having their tax money go to welfare that pays for these kids in the long-run.   confused

That said, my children will be taught all of this from an early age.  If they fuck up down the road, I won't have it on my conscience.  (and yeah, before I get bitched out by some teen mom, yes, I called getting pregnant as a teenager a fuck-up  Wink)  Of course I'd still love my grandchild, but having a baby as a teen sets a poor example.  (yup, back in the saddle on my high horse again Smiley)   peace

P.S. to all those nations out there that are having problems recruiting for your armed forces, take a lesson from "W."  Keep minimum wages really low.  Don't adjust them for inflation so the poor fucks get even less.  Then, don't teach sex ed.  Tell them to "just say no!" to sex.  Censor boobs, but allow your little kiddies to witness 10,000 murders on tv/movies/video games before they hit puberty so they are nice and desensitized to violence.   hihi  Before ya know it, you'll have a wonderful pool of future soldiers to fight whatever war you need fought.  Works like a charm!   yes

I don't know why most schools can't just teach it like I learned it.  We learned everything, but they'd always reiterate that abstinance is the only way to prevent STD's and pregnancies 100% of the time (or lack of times  hihi).

Sprinkle in multiple images of festering penis sores, vaginal discharge, etc.  Chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes are all at all-time highs with American teens.  Education, education, education.  "Abstinence-only" is about as scientific as "intelligent-design."  This current administration is a joke when it comes to science and education.

Sex ed. ideally should start in the home.  The schools should follow it up with a very t h o r o u g h education in health class.  If the fringe lunatics who want to bury their head (and their kid's head) in the sand, and not listen, so be it.  It's quite sad.
