From VR blog

03.10.08

Hey friends,

In Dublin now, got a couple of days off and we haven't even done anything yet except travel.

Flying and more flying.

Well we are here safe and sound. The only problem we have ran into so far is we lost Slash's bags. He's bummed. We did find them back in Dubai a long ways away. The only real drag is a guy has to fly with them by law I guess.

Crazy!!!

Slash beloved Gitanes are in there and he needs them to be 100 percent Slash U know?

Well going to cruise around Dublin today. With My girlfriend Ace. Rock On!!!

Crazy? Or just common sense?

Imagine if people could just check in luggage and not board the planes.....

Heh, happens all the time when you fly Delta. Fuckers always overbook and the luggage gets sent on. (But I know what you're saying.)

I'm more used to hearing announcements about passengers who they're waiting for being told that their luggage will be unloaded if they don't show up at the gate immediately.

"Sapient Pearwood" Is that a universal name for something or am I not the only Terry Pratchett fan here?  beer

Poor Slash, if only he kept as close an eye on his belongings as he used to keep on his stash.

I might actually go see VR when they are in Scotland next, I am not a fan of their music but seeing Slash and Duff in the flesh would be pretty cool since they were among my heroes when I was a wee lad.

Incidently I am re-reading "The Colour Of Magic" for the first time in years and loving every minute, I am going to read the whole set one after the other after neglecting it for far too long.
I forgot how insane the luggage was.

Jarmo, this happens quite often, especially if flying standbye.  Actually happened once when I was flying to Vegas to see GNR.  We missed 22 straight flights because of overbooking, our bags where in vegas for almost 2 days until we got there.  We had no clothes or anything.  So your bags leaving without you is very common.

I'm talking about international flights.  Smiley

I don't know how it works on domestic flights.

If you've got Sky One, they're showing the latest Terry film 'The Colour of Magic' (actually a combination of TCOM and The Light Fantastic) over the Easter weekend.  I was lucky enough to see the first half at the premiere at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair about a week ago and it's stunning.  And, you're right, the luggage is a stroke of genius and I think you'll love the way it's portrayed on film.   Cheesy

On topic: (and for non-Pratchett fans) - in essence The Luggage is a box that travels on hundreds on tiny legs.  It's made of sapient pearwood (a rare and extremely magical material), which means that it'll follow its owner anywhere on the Discworld or any world for that matter.  Oh and it's possibly the most homicidal travel accessory in the world...   hihi

However, until a source of sapient pearwood is discovered on roundworld, and given Slash's apparent inability to keep track of his belongings, perhaps he could consider the following:

yes, they match bags to the passenger manifest. also, i think we all understand the seriousness of this and we all agree about what you said, so i didnt think you needed to make that type of statement. that isnt rocket science.
