I think I need to wait a bit to be sure but I am def. leaning towards Libertad. What makes it a tough call is that the albums are so different from each other picking one could come down to mood. I like how heavy Contraband is, and I think the ballads on it are a ton better than those on Libertad. However I like that Libertad is much more of an up-beat and positive rock record, musically and lyrically. I also love that Libertad is so diverse musically. It reminds me alot of UYI1 in that regard. I remember when I first got Contraband I loved it but thought the opposite, that alot of the songs blended together when you listened to the whole thing straight through.

Masterpieces dont need 10 listenings to be recognised.

i havent listened to Libertad yet (wil pick it up tuesday) but that statement is just ridiculous. most of my favorite all time albums took me a while to get into.

Not the best song, but I like "For a Brother." And the chorus is almost the same as that in SOLAT.

At the moment, its cool to listen to Libertad all the way through... most of the songs are pretty equal.

When I listen to Contraband I can skip the songs around. Even though I love the whole album.

I cant decide.

Pleh. They are both awesome. Cheesy

Masterpieces dont need 10 listenings to be recognised.

The Downward Spiral
The Fragile

just a couple of examples.

Originally I would've said Contraband by a MILE, not even close.  But Libertad has grown on me quite a bit over the past couple days, so now I'd still say Contraband but not but such a wide margin.  We'll see where I stand in a couple weeks.  Lots of GOOD songs on Libertad, I just feel there are lots of GREAT songs off Contraband.

Libertad.?

It's not even close and I loved Contraband playing it routinely for just over a year.

I can see, however, how somebody who would have wanted VR's sophomore effort become more hard rockin' than Contraband could be disappointed with Libertad.

It's much more diverse.? More rythm, more soul from where I sit.
