Being a huge fan of Duff , i have to say his playing on Libertad is so much different and sounds great. Alot of different styles on Libertad than anything he has done in the past.? Sounds like alot of different guitars used , playing without a pick on alot of the stuff in the studio, and Brendan O' Brien's great production. Nice change of style.

As musc as I don't like allot of the album, I must admit Duff lays down some pretty cool basslines on there.

Wasn't Slash playing 6-string bass on that one?

last quote, it;'s a tiny bit vague, but it seems to support what Steve says.

Quote

Duff: Slash played the six-string on two songs. I was gonna play it, and he was screwin' around with it. He has a completely different attack to the six-string that I do. I said, "Slash, why don't you give it a try?" He was havin' fun and he was attacking it in a real cool way, like he attacks a guitar.

Yes he did.  Check the credits in the booklet, Slash played bass on that song.  One of the most underrated GnR songs for sure

But back to the topic Duff is one of the best parts of Libertad, he stepped it up from Contraband.  He has some real nice basslines on the album

Agreed.
Everyone seems to have stepped out of their comfort zone in some respects for this album...

I like the connection between matureness of the music and Scotts "childish" lyrics.
