in 2002, after the VMA's, Axl was interviewed by Kurt Loder.  After Loder asked the question:  "WHen is the album comingg out", Axl answered "IT IS THIS YEAR"

I just saw that interview again, and it made me think...... Sad

You're correct. And on top of that, do we need another thread about when and if the album will be released and what Axl may or may not have said about it?

why not? we are all dying for the album and we have no other outlet to discuss it. its been 16 years and counting without any new orignal material....(save 1 song in 1999).....

I believe that they really were planning on releasing it last year but that things didn't go as planned or something. It's a pity that no one's informing us about the album or constantly giving out release dates out, but perhaps it's better this way, if we'd have been given tentative release dates all the time then I'd probably start to feel bitter about the entire thing and I don't want something like release dates to ruin my feelings on GNR, right now it's just cool to see them get out there and do their thing.

Alright, alright I admit it, Axl has personally left me in charge of the distribution of the album, this was about 8 years ago. Unfortunately, I got into a car accident on the way to the studio one day to pick up the masters from him, and slipped into a coma that I just woke up from around 2 pm this afternoon. So I got up, brushed my teeth, took a shit, sped off down to the studio, picked the masters up which sound so much better than they did when I last heard them, then took them to the manufacturing plant and told them to stop all other production and start producing Chinese Democracy. So without further ado, the album will be out next Tues., ok ya happy!!!!!

the tour postponed it. Axl didnt finish the cd in 06 even though it was the plan, and he kept going on tour so he never finished it if I remember.

hopefully the touring now isnt postponing the mixing/mastering that must be going on now Tongue

That was in 2006, and he said the truth. But for some reason it couldn't be. Did you read the open letter from Axl?
